Turbo....because there's nothing like power...sure...SCs can be fast off the line...but turbos have a lot of oomph. You can sprint the 400 meters, but you can't sprint the mile (not even the Olympic runners can do that...close...but not close enough). Besides...straight lines are boring...and you can use some NOS to help spool that sucker up faster too.

shoot some NOS to help spool up faster.... hmmmm... i would highly discourage the use of nos below 3000rpms... can cause some badness... the best time to shoot nos is at wot... wide open throttle... anyways how big of a turbo you plan on going? most of the turbos in the kits will spool at around 2500 rpms.... you will have some very noticable lag with a huge turbo like a t78 or a t88... but with a t28 size turbo or a t04/t3 turbo you shouldn't have any problems with getting boost at 3000 or under... DO NOT SHOOT NOS BELOW 3 GRAND!

Just a little history... the Roots style supercharger was designed to push air into mines over a century ago.

Also the almight Lancia 037 Rally car used a roots style compressor.

S/c are alright but nothing better than the power of the turbo. Thats why I plan on running nitrous with my s/c down the road so I can have some top end.

Now that sounds GOOD.

Nitrous and a S/C.

Any negatives to that setup?

So would a S/C be better than a turbo for an autotragic?

definatly... the Roots style SC puts most of it's gains in the lower RPM band.. right were the auto tranny likes the engine to run.

since i have a turbo i will say i would want a turbo.

for the spooling problems off line, you can actually get a turbo off the line just as quick if not even quicker.

use a 2 step rev limit and build boost before the tree goes green, this is what i do.

i use slicks, i set my 2 step at 5000rpm, i hold the gas down and bounce off the msd 2step, i get 4 psi, the tree goes green and i shoot out like a rocket and i get full boost before a s/c has time to build up.

i have raced many supercharged cars to include the ford lightening svt, i barely beat the svt and he never got me off the line.
