Those 1k's shouldn't be a problem with the Haltech. Try to figure it out before downgrading. I know B16's idling 1200's here just fine. I think Tim had 1200's in his Elantra. I was wondering what the deal was because you're still hovering around 300 with a built block. Come on man, we put that down with a stock block.
Go big or go home!
If you'd like, I'll trade you a brand new set of 850cc's straight up for your 1k's.

Many have run factory axles with 300-400hp. They start breaking at 400 and up. I've launched my car on 300hp and slicks several times without problems. It's seen a turbo and nitrous for most of its life and I've beat the hell out of it on both the track and street.
Regit, I popped the stock block at 380ish...well rods broke LOL. You got plenty to go man, just make sure its a solid tune, thats how mine lasted for 6 months 350+ on stock bottom end.
I find that very hard to believe Jon, although I do believe you non the less. The first time I took my shark to california speedway after my 2nd turbo tune with megasquirt fuel management. The ending result of the tune was 16psi of boost with a big 20g making 300whp and 307/lbs of torque. well my passenger axle had snapped after attempting to launch between 4500-4800 rpm....a short lived track day knowing it was my first time but I have not returned to the track since due to needing to replace the clutch and at this point am having a hard time selecting a clutch decisions..decisions....

So you got a bad axle, or wheel hopped it to death. Still, lots of people use stock axles with quite a bit of power.
Try shopping for upgraded axles. You also need traction bars if you don't already.

The inner spline shaft of the axle had stayed in the housing of the trans, immediately after the trans drained itself dry of gear oil. I would like traction bars but as far as I know theirs only a traction bars for the gk sharks. Unless I go with a custom made one.
