Point Me To A 1.8<2.0 Swap Please
ok so i changed the fuel filter and the tps sensor. The car is still idling below 600. It surges also. you know as if it were looking to get a good steady idle but it cant find it.
I read a post were the a/c compressor might be the culprit. it would make sense seeing as something happened to the a/c system before all of this. the a/c just started spewing smoke thru the vents when we had the a/c on, during highway driving. so i'm a take the a/c belt off and see if that does any good

Next main suspect for idle: idle air control or dirty throttle body
I'm going out on a limb here and making a (negative) assumption about the car's maintenance history, but . . . when is the last time the throttle body was cleaned out?

i don't know when the last time the throttle body was cleaned. she purchased the car from a girl that had purchased it from a auction LMFAO. I don't even know why i allowed her to buy it in the first place.
How do you clean out the throttle body and the idle air control sensor? I will look in the meantime to see how to clean these but just in case i don't find it. it would be a great help if yall could spill the beans.
and Red Zman I read the post, with the guy that has the vid of his turbo setup. mine surges identical to that. I will try and flip the maf sensor around also.
step one flip maf sensor
set two clean throttle body and iac
step three if the first two don't work take the belt off the ac compressor

Don't FLIP the MAF sensor, look at it and see if it is on right. The arrow on it should be pointing in the direction air SHOULD be traveling, IE, AWAY from the filter end.
Pull off your IAC and clean it with electrical cleaner spray, some rags, and some qtips. Make sure it is completely dry and that the rags are coming out clean before you reinstall it.
Throttle body is easy, just take it off the car, clean it with a rag and some solvent. Again, make sure it is DRY before putting it back on. You probably don't even need the solvent.

turned out to eb the maf sensor that was turned in the opposite direction. i didnt even have the arrow ont he top side where the eye could see. Thanks very much everyone that had something to contribute to the solution.
