i tried searching but became highly frustrated over the 30 minutes of searching and no gold

Black smoke = excess fuel. Oil is blue. Coolant is white.

To swap engines, you need the long block and fuel injectors, and that's about it.

Please fill out your location information in your User CP.

There probably isn't a DIY out there for it already. It's a direct swap, you just pull out the old engine, and put the new one in. Some connectors change between versions for sensors, so just replace them with the originals.

I'd troubleshoot the problems first.

Also, wtf do you mean MTX?

Isn't that a speaker brand? use some punctuation and spell out what you are talking about.

Just sounds like your running rich to me.

No point in swaping a entire motor if your problem is the air filter lol, which you should check fing02.gif

Do some diag first... what you said is pretty much "the plugs are fouled, i need a new motor" lol. so yeah check the plugs too.

lol alright then. and my apology about the punctuation thing. Also i've been on the ford contour and probe boards so mtx is part of the model name which represent Manual transmission.

I will check the plugs and the air filter. Tho i did do this before i will double check.

[*]Keep in mind that the car does start up but struggles or fails to hold idle[*]no check engine light[*]car was at 65mph on hwy with a/c on and then it kicked out and blew smoke thru the vents of the air system. into the cabin of the car (while blower fan was on)[*]and when i hold a piece of paper up to the tail pipe. i get a black oil like residue on the paper
No problem man, it is just very hard to read someone's intentions and intended meanings without punctuation.

WHen is the last time you used fuel injector cleaner?

I'd suggest getting some B12 Chemtool or Seafoam and putting it in immediately.

Ever change the fuel filter?

What TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is on the Throttle Body? Keifco or Dae Sung?

ok so i changed plugs to autolite double platinum. the old plugs were indeed very black as if running rich.

[*]the air filter is fine.[*]i have not checked the fuel filter yet. (DO YOU REALLY THINK IT WOULD MAKE IT RUN RICH AND CAUSE BLACK SMOKE AND NOT TO IDLE PROPERLY)[*]and i will add a stp fuel system cleaner to it seeing as i have it readily at the house.[*]also i'm running a keIfco TPS sensor.
also is there n e thing inside the cabin of the car that could get wet and make it act a fool like it's doing

ok the stp fuel system cleaner and the autolite double platinum spark plugs got rid of the smoke from what i can see. but the car still has a funny idle to it. and the check engine light just came on and autozone says it's a tps sensor issue

also..when driving the car. it sometimes simply cuts off when in motion.

Just make sure the new plugs you got are gapped right, I've never used autolite, but I suppose they are fine.

If the color of smoke corresponds to fuel, then it's a fueling issue, fuel filters often get overlooked and are supposed to be replaced like every 40 or 60K miles, I forget. Anyways, looking at your fuel system for a fuel issue is of course the way to go.

Since you probably had some really nasty old plugs and some clogged up injectors (run injector cleaner every 4 to 6 tanks of gas, good quality injector cleaner like B12, the cheaper your gas is in quality, the more often you should clean your injectors), it's no wonder most of the problem is gone.

As for your crappy idle and shutting off car, that is for SURE a TPS issue, and since you scanned the CEL, you know it to be true. While the Keifco is in general the "GOOD" TPS, compared to the Dae Sung, it can still go bad. There is one for sale in the forums for $30 shipped, pick it up, replace your TPS, and those problems will be gone.

Please, what does "n e thing" mean?

A NorthEast thing? There is nothing North East in the cabin of the car that could get wet and make it act a fool.

...

Did I just say that?
