My Future Turbo Setup
ok, all parts have been acquired. All I need to do now is weld the oil return to my spare oil pan... and get a gasket for it, I'd have to get one from the dealer, right? I'm going to use BBQ flat black spray paint on the intercooler pipes that I got from Tibminn, they're crush bent steel, this should keep them in good shape for a while. the intercooler is an old speedfactor front mount, with some fins corroding, I'll use radiator paint on that.
The only thing that I could think of for problems is that a while ago I took out the a/c completely when I put the latest engine in. Since, I've only run the car with the 1 fan, the one closer to the battery. the stock fan shouldn't get in the way of a t25 with the obx manifold, should it?
Oh, also I will be installing the stupid "test" pipe thing until I get a high flow cat. I hated the sound of the exhaust when I tried it out before. I know the turbo will change the exhaust sound a lot though. I do have my stock cat in there now, but i would be better off with the straight pipe right? I know I'll throw a CEL for the pipe, but I think the stock cat is way too restricting.
Will I be getting any more CELs?
also, quick question, how does the mobil 5000 10w30 sound? do I really have to go fully synth or is the blend ok enough?

Cats actually flow a lot better than you think.
I'd run two fans to be honest. The turbo and manifold are probably going to be sitting further out, and you really don't want a heat soaked radiator.
I'd assume piping will work fine, you'll find out when you put it on there. wink1.gif

I only had one fan and I never had any overheating problems. I think viper went this route at one time and perhaps alex too if im not mistaken. I used the smaller stock fan but moved it to the drivers side
I ran that way for a while... its only been about 65 degree weather and the poor lil A/C fan had to stay on forever for the temperatures to go back down low enough for it to kick off.
The only reason I ran it that way was because the stock main fan had the bigass motor fan. I just ended up using another stock fan motor, modified to fit in place of that. So I essentially have two lil A/C fans that come on at once whenever the temperature gets high. They shut off in 10 seconds.

Just a quick update: I won't be installing the turbo this weekend unfortunately. I had a pretty rough Easter last week, instead of prepping the oil pan, painting the piping and getting all the small parts that I still needed, I found out my grandfather had passed away. It was kind of an awful dinner sunday night with my parents. Hopefully I'll have it all installed by Memorial Day.
