Went on a spring break trip, but I did quite a bit of work since then.

Wisecos and Pauters are installed. Head is still being ported. The intake is almost done, but I really want to remove a bit more and smooth it out. The Beta II head I got is wierd. It has some humps on the beginning of the intake tract. However, the diameter of the ports are slightly larger than a Beta I to compensate for the added material of the humps. This required me to remove them, however its actually a good thing since once I remove them, my ports will be much bigger without doing anything to them.
The exhaust ports need a lot of work. It's going to take some time. I'll shave the walls a bit and port match to the manfiold, but I'm definately not going too deep since the coolant channels are everywhere. No matter what I do though, the exhaust ports won't even come close to the size of the intake ports.

On the other hand, if a stock head can flow enough for 400-450hp, then I shouldn't need to do much for 500.

I removed the Spearco 500hp capable horizontal intercooler I've had for all those years. Then, I scavenged the Treadstone TRV25 intercooler off the Z. It's a verticle core capable of 1500cfm and 1000hp. A little overkill, but the outlets are in a better position for piping. The Spearco had exits in the bottom of each side. I routed the pipes all the way around to the sides of the bay........... It was like 15 feet of piping.
The new route should have about 2 feet of piping from the turbo to the IC. Then about 4 feet up to the TB. So, while I would gain more volume (lag) from a slightly larger intercooler, the 50% drop in piping should offset that volume. At least in my mind it does. wink.gif

Here's a mockup. I should be able to use the same mounting holes as before. Just need to cut some new angle brackets.

The piping is going to need to turn tight and immediately into the hole next to the radiator. I may need to trim the sheet metal a little to fit the 2.5" piping in there.
