I've read that boosting on 5th gear you can kill 5th gear or tranny.

Top speed is reached on WOT, so it would not be possible to drive fast on 5th gear, right?

What can be by boosting on 5th gear? What thing should be changed to cure it? Maybe we can change 5th gear? I would also make 5th gear longer.

Thats what I've always heard, is that 5th gear is rather weak.

You can change that gear, and you can change the length of it as well. Don't really see too much point of it... I don't see 140mph very often.

Would take a while for the gas money you would save to pay back for the longer 5th gear. Since the motor is at a consistent speed, meaning less wear overall, there won't be too much wear and tear difference between 80MPH at 3400RPM, and 80MPH at 3000RPM.

But yes, I feel for you. I have never taken the Tib to I-95, or something of that sort, for the simple fact I don't want to be driving at 3700RPM for hours on end. I feel bad for the car. Thats the disadvantage we get with aggressive gearing. 02.gif

I believe one of our boosted members blew his 5th gear smile.gif So, to be on the safe side, I wouldn't boost in 5th.

Gary what was wrong with your tranny?

how to make 5th gear stronger?

is it possible to vent down boost when engaging 5th gear? maybe install some kind of valve?

If you want to boost less in 5th, how about taking your foot off the throttle? Go half throttle and you'll boost less and still accelerate

I want some precaution.

So that if my dad for example take my car, he wouldn't blow 5th gear or anything else.
