yes it is in a higher sub class (ex: A, B, C you get the point) but you are allowed to race up the "pedistal" but not down.

That's my point, it's in a different Class of "street prepared".

What i'm saying is that bone stock there are better performing cars in the tiburon's class. Spend the same $ for $ and mod for mod on those cars, and they will run away from the tibby, just like they did when both were stock. Let's face it, if you were to build at 100% autocross car, and your goal was to win the SCCA Nationals, you wouldn't pick a Tiburon to do it with. Sure, at local events and regional events you can go far with nearly any well prepared car and reasonably competent driver. However, to be competitive, the RD is NOT the platform of choice.

No, winning isn't everything. Heck, I don't even compete on my motorcycle anymore. I only go to track days/events that are "open" with no lap timing or "score" kept. Since he originally stated he was going to be getting sponsorship dollars... sponsors want results and exposure. Both come from winning. Him sinking $5000 of other people's money into a car, putting sponsor logo's on it, and then being unable to get out of regionals is not going to bode well for continued sponsorship or future sponsors.

The front suspension on the Tiburon is archaic. The rear suspension is a more modern design, but the package as a whole has a tendance to corner like a dog at a fire hydrant (inside rear wheel lifted, peeing on the cones as you go by) 3 wheeling my look cool, but it's NOT the fastest way around the corner. most VW's have the same problem (especially the GOLF's and JETTA's). Install a stiff enough front swaybar to counter the "lift" and you get understeer. Stiffen the front springs enough to prevent roll/sag and you get a front end that bounces around corners, giving you understeer again. Just like the Golfs and Jetta's, it's a decent handling car, with good autocross gear ratios (at least the older VW's), and reasonably light, but they are just not competive with the more modern designed, better handling cars in its class(or sub-class if you prefer). Mainly the previous Civic's and Protege's.

Maybe someone put ground effects on a Lancer? I've autox'd once in my WRX... which will get spanked by Evo8s all day if the driver is breathing. There's no way you could take them... and trust me, I've already sunk plenty into my car performance-wise. My brother's Lancer I could have beeten with the Tib, but not by that much. By putting on 245s over the stock 225s on my car they can grab a lot more, remember F1 cars use slicks.

Ok first off the category of street prepared is what I run in as well so we are in the same class...just different sub-classes...its not that hard

As for the evo-8 being a lancer no its want...a BOV is a dead give away besides the absence of the nasty looking LANCER on the back...trust me i know an evo-8 when i see one..

WOW...you should be keeping up with the evo rather well ....sumthin wrong with your wrx...or is it stock? (but overall evos handle better than wrx's because they actually bite down in a turn..if u watch both corner a wrx kinda slides out more to the side, but an evo bites down hard in the front and powers its way through...just watch top gears review/comparison on video...you'll see what I mean

Believe me I can take evo-8's in my class (all be it they might not have more engine work done)...does anyone here have any idea how well a tibby sticks to a track with 235's on the front and rear?? (Avon Tech-R slicks) not to mention I've installed almost every suspension mod you can do for a tibby besides doing major surgery and putting in a custom built front/rear suspension..so all this plus about 150-160whp in a 23-2350b. stripped tibby (it isnt exactly a slug off the line or in 2nd gear lol.gif )...c'mon it can do some damage

understeer...what understeer...a new lsd helps a lot plus slicks and suspension work keep the front end planted and pointing in the right direction...its all about the cars dynamics..

and why does everyone think slicks are bad...drag slicks are bad for cornering, but road racing slicks are made just like street radials but with no tread and super sticky compound...doesnt anyone here compete/watch races...and F1 does not use slicks...they were banned because the cars were running too fast on them so they decided to put groves in the tires...your killing me tongue.gif
more contact patch with softer rubber equals....great handling

as for my sponsors....why do you think they picked me up (just to have a laugh)...drrrr rolleyes.gif

there is a video of nfs racing in www.hituning.com they do 12s whit 240 ps =236 hp
if you whant have more then 200whp you just have too ask www.supertech.riki.ca they told me they can do a head job (cam porting 3 angle valve cam gear and more ) that give you 200whp whit the stock internal

i believe we're all straying off-topic..
back to the first post: you want to autox in a tibby but can't decide between FI or NA

imo, go FI with either a lightly boosted turbo or the alpine supercharger.
put the rest of the money into suspension (LSD too) and weight reduction.
