QUOTE (NightShark @ Apr 14 2007, 02:18 PM)
when i drive on the highway constant at about 75 MPH (for you americans) i'm at about 1150.. the highest i've seen it go when i'm at full boost rippin it is at around 1250.. so i guess from what you guys are sayin i should be fine.

Victor!
First of all where is the location of the probe..
I have it at ALL 4 cylinder where the Collector is FOR BEST results from what was told by several tunners.........
Location of the probe does make a difference and i would install it at all 4 colectors
When your cruising at 120Klh or 75 MPH your EGt temps are at 1150 F!!!!!!!!!!!
If so that is VERY SAFE and low..
My Greddy Gauge is in celcius and im at 700C which is about 1290F when im driving at 120Klm Hour

Now at full boost the MAX and safest you can run the temps are at 1650F like Tanc has mentioned...
Most of the Time i have to back off the Throddle as i hit that at about 6000-6500Rpms.Also depnds on the weather outside as i might back off sooner .
If your temps at Full boost is 1250 thats very low and good(safe)
Also at what rpms are you measuring the EGT temps when it reaches 1250F?

Its kind of hard to say because my car is tunned rich and also at idle and still have high readings.
Its weird but sometimes running rich at WOT can also cause EGTs to climb?

Same here.
My car is dyno tuned for 10~11.5 A/F ratio, and my reading is 1550-1600F at WOT at 5500-6000RPM
I guess the only accurate way is that you record or mark the temperature when you dyno tune your car, so that way you can have some idea if it's too lean or rich compare to the mark

Rob, can I suggest you remove the EGT from the collector and place it 2"s away from either cylinder 1 or clyinder 4.

The point of an EGT sensor is not to moniter your exhaust gas temperature event tho it's called an EGT, what you want to do is moniter your combustion chamber temps. Thats what really matters. If you put your sensor in the collector, there while be 200-300 degree temp change from combustion to your sensor.

Hey Tank you refering to a 200-300 temp change reading HIGHER or lower?
Also here is a pic of where mine is installed. The neck part on the manifold where the turbo flange is welded to measures 2 inches in height.
Mine is close to the middle
I think this location is good...
Here is the pic

Lower rob but your manifold only has a cpl inches from your runners to the collector. Your's wouldn't be off that much. I'd say its an OKAY location, but not 100% accurate. It also matters what company made your egt sensor. wink1.gif
