Here's a fun fact for you. Some of the wiring, parts, etc. were changed mid 2000 for the tiburons.
Actually, that's just a rumor, it never happened.
Ever.
Hyundai doesn't even have different part #'s listed in their Microfiche parts listings. Nothing.
I've been inside approximately 36 RD Tiburons in my day, and still haven't seen any of these differences we've heard about. We've sold over 220 RSide Advanced Short Shifters to the RD Crowd, never had one returned for not fitting because of these supposed changes.
Also, the Koreans have never heard of these changes, and they MADE THE CARS. So, it never happened.
What the issue is...

I found out the hard way when I wanted the b&m short shifter and they gave me the 2000-2001 but it didn't fit. Turns out the earlier series shifter worked for my car.
Not true. At least not completely. B&M has a shifter listed for the 97-00 Tiburon. Released in 2000 I belive. The one they have listed for the 2001 and up Tiburon is ONLY listed for it because, when they did their research, they thought Hyundai would change the stuff to match the 2001 Elantra, as they had the same chassis and such.
Not the case. The one you bought and returned was their 2001 model. It actually fits the 2001 and up Elantra, and the 2003 and up Tiburon. There is no 2000-2001 model by B&M. This is the same case with all of the other mislabled and mis-sold shifters out there. I've contacted several of these companies, several times, with the correct info, and they don't care to change it. The "Earlier" shifter is the only one that works on RD's.

What does this mean you say? My car won't necessarily have the same complications as the 2001.
Yes, it will.

The colors for the wires are even different than the later 2000-2001 and the earlier ones 97-99.
This happens even in some of the same generation of car. This is due to having different MFR's produce the same harness. The wiring colors are usually minimally different. Go by the WIRE POSITION IN YOUR HARNESS CONNECTORS rather than the color.

Okay mister fun fact, lol. The shifter thing is pretty rare, not many RD2s have that type of shifter, though it HAS been discussed before. But this is about an ECU swap and converting from MAF to MAP.
It's more than rare. It's a rumor. An unfounded rumor as said above.
Think about it this way. Other than personal experience here on the forums of me and a few others, and our businesses, no one here has ever come out and had one. Ever.

NO. Remember, this is the FIRST EVER IN HISTORY swap done with this kit
No, you are wrong. Airborne has done this swap. His was the first. He took his US SPEC RD2 to Korea with him remember?
Then there's Dvanderk here. That's 3.
Now, stop the arguing.
Koreans have a similar swap kit, but korean RDs are already MAP based and use a different ecu with a different connector. We had to start from the ground up for this kit.
redzman...you should be proud that hyundai owners feel so strongly about their cars...I know I do (even if both sides of the arguement are completely wrong).
Thanks for the straight answers though.

Have you figured out why the fuel pump had to be rewired to work?

Dude, you haven't read many of my posts have ya? I feel the strongest out of most folks here, and always push the car and the brand.
