why would you change your rod bolts? they will hold

 

when a rod would be thrown from the engine people started noticing it was cuz the rod bolts snapped

 

ive got one question, why would ARP bolts be so much better then stock?

is it really that your head would be blown away if you turbocharge it or something?

i cant believe that.

When building a motor...

studs > bolts

I could explain long and hard, but I won't you can google search it. Studs clamp better than bolts, create a better seal.

 

^Word on that homie. its better to search on the net and get a deeper understanding of why this is need if you are going to boost and go for the higer ## its like a insurance "in case S hit happens"

 

When boosting a motor, you are always gonna get higher compression in the cylinders. Therefore, teh head is gonna want to lift away from the block. Stock studs are only meant to withstand stock pressures. If there is too much pressure, the stock studs will stretch over time and cause the head to seperate from the block. ARP studs have a greater resistance to stretching and can be re-used over and over.

I updated the first post so that it's easier to order and it includes the 12mm "special" bolt. I also threw in the wheel studs.

I never got the part #'s for the nuts and washers for the 12mm studs. If someone talks to ARP, be sure to get those #'s for us.

 

I wonder how much those wheel studs are, and if they are finished like ARP's other stuff. That finish looks like it would resist corrosion that you tend to get on the studs.

I don't think its that bad of a deal. Especially since I've broken several of them already. When running slicks, the shear is only gonna get worse.
