I thought he meant big "BADASS" cams as you put it since he was talking about getting the most HP out of his dollar. Remember I'm on a slow connection, and even though you posted before me I NEVER SAW that you mentioned the 1.8 cam before my post. And stop with the As usual, wrong stuff, its getting on my nerves. Feel free to say your opinion on whether you think I'm right or not, but don't be an ass about it. I don't see anyone else with that attitude.

The difference between a stock cam and the 1.8L Cam is very minimal, however for the money it isn't too bad.

Best way to spend $500 would be the S-AFC AND the cam OR Underdrive pulley. Still would only be $350ish if you spend it right.

I cant imagine that it would cost that much. The only thing that needs to be actually taken off is the spark plug cover and the valve cover. If you decide to do it yourself you will need a torque wrench so that you dont break too many of the journal bolts smile.gif .

S-AFC I would agree he might have to have someone install it and tune it... still shouldn't be too bad though.

Camshafts are hella easy though. Basically you just need a torque wrench, a socket set/socket, some oil, and some lube. Take off the 12ish bolts holding down the valve cover, pop it up, use torque wrench and take out old cam, oil up the new cam, relube the valve cover, and seal it all back down.

Haze if you filled out your location in your profile there could be someone around you that wouldnt mind giving you a hand with this.

-Edit-

I also think someone needs to move this to Engine/Transmission. Not really a Power Adder/Extreme Mods type of thread.

Sorry if this can be found elsewhere but it may be helpful to say what to torque them at as well.

Thanks again guys for all your help. laugh.gif

I should be ordering the cam soon and the SAFC soon to follow.

Ultra, I edited my profile. I'm in NJ, USA. Do you know anyone who can help me out in this area offhand?

I am not sure off of the top of my head but I believe it is 9-11lbs. If you look in the DIY area there is a writeup I did on this and it has the exact torque specs.

-Edit-

If you arent too far up there I wouldnt mind coming up and giving you a hand.

One more stupid NEWB question:

Do I need to order 1 cam or 2?

I'm guessing since I have a DOHC I need 2?

Thanks

If you plan on buying the 1.8 intake cam, it will be the only cam you will need.

Here's another DIY I found if anyone's interested. I think I'm just going to have my mechanic do it though.

Thanks for the offer Ultra, but I don't have a garage or even a driveway to do this in.
