Hey guys, I registered here a while back but haven't been posting much because my Tibby's been hibernating during the winter. Now winter is over and I got my tax return and it's burning a hole in my pocket as usual. I am thinking about getting a SAFC and I was looking at the Apexi one because it looks pretty sweet. I know looks aren't everything so I was wondering if anyone here is using one. I did a search and it didn't come up with anything.

I am going to have to bring it to a shop to get it fine tuned because I don't know the first thing about what settings to put it on, etc. I saw one on ebay for $249 which didn't seem that bad. Plus I figure it would be around $100 for installation and tuning at my local shop.

Also please let me know if this is the best upgrade I can get for under $400.

Here are my performance mods so far:

OBX 4-1 Headers
OBX cat back exhaust
AEM CAI
NGK Wires
Short Shifter (hasn't been installed yet)

Thanks in advance,

~H~A~Z~E~ B)

me personally i would get a smt-6 over a safc

its basically the same thing only WAY better as it lets you mess with ignition timing like a msd

and its only a little more

and i would get a 1.8 cam, 1.8 ecu, and a crank pulley before i would get a safc

with what you have now you will gain like 3 hp with the safc

Sorry, forgot to add. I have a 2000 Tib 2.0L

Would the 1.8 stuff still fit my car?

Of course. We wouldn't recommend it if it didn't.

Try to tune the SAFC in a place where is a DYNO....

Without a Turbo, the SMT-6 is better than a SAFC??? why??

For the modification, I will go for the 1.8 CAMS... and the set of pulleys Or better, get a little more money an get the AIRam from kspec.

S-AFC is more user friendly. Personally I like its ease of operation, which is why it still sells so well. If your N/A, timing does very little for the car, especially when your restricted on how much +/- you can do anyway with the stock ECU.

If you think the S-AFC would only give 3whp with his mods, you've obviously never tuned a car. On a completely stock Tib I would still expect 6-7whp out of fuel tuning simply because of how rich the car runs. You can look @ GKs for an example. I/H/E puts them @ around 160whp. Fuel tuning puts them @ 175whp... You can't expect that big of a gain off of a I/H/E 4-cylinder, but it gives you an example of how much tuning helps Hyundai and their policy of running everything rich.

Yea, I would think the SAFC would give me more than 3 hp, but what will give me the most HP for under $500?

Aren't cams expensive to install?

Prices?
Links?

Thanks in advance.

Do some searching man, chances are we just might have talked about cams and where to get them before.

Actually, I did a search and came up with This

None of which specifically told me where to get them from or how much they cost to install.

I'm at work and I really can't be reading through every thread.

Thanks again,
