Its not going to weigh too much more than a 5-speed... And its definately going to be lighter than most automatic transmissions. If your talking about weight distribution... really doesn't make too much diff in FWD. Probably won't even change the Tib from... the 60-65/40 it is or so. No way your getting even close to even. You want a 50/50 car get a Miata. smile.gif

Well that's not too much weight to add... but I don't know if the gains are going to be worth for the money you have to throw in...
I don't even dream to get close to 50/50 balanced car, but if you could cut some lbs off your Tib, and they come from the front... that would be nicer than getting them from the rear... which makes me remember of the GK, it's handsome, but has a heavy nose I don't like over the my RD nose.

Battery relocation won't help much. You can buy a lightweight battery that weighs 20 pounds...theres no way to get a front engine, front wheel drive car to 50/50. Either way, it really shouldn't matter. While 50/50 is nice, putting lower air in the front to increase contact patch, and more air in the front to reduce weight transfer and keep the nose planted should keep a FWD car with a decent 60 foot time. I should buy a Miata... a little 2200 pound RWD car would be fun... have too many cars as it is though.
I'm with IQ, it shouldn't make more than 20 pounds difference unless the tranny case is extremely different and heavier or something odd like that.

as far as I know.. the Miata is the only 50/50 car you can buy right now.. even the elise is rear biased. In all reality though, you probably do not want a perfect 50/50 front wheel drive car. With the front wheels both turning the car and putting the power to the street.. I think that would make them unload faster and any gain you got in handling would be lost as you smoked the tyres trying to pull out of the corner.
