Up to this point I've primarily been using the parts from the M5CF2-1 and M56CF3-1. My initial plan was to just use the shafts from the M56CF3-1 in the M5CF2-1 bellhousing but that wasn't going to work due to the shafts being different lengths. This is where the M56CF2 transmission comes into play as the shafts are going to be the needed length.

Here are the M56CF2 and M56CF3-1 input and output shafts with the gears removed.

I sent the input, output shaft and gears off for WPC treatment. I ended up using the M56CF3-1 gears on the M56CF2 shafts.

Here is the output shaft fully assembled.

I had a custom shim created for the input shaft as I noticed one of the needle bearings wasn't sitting at the correct height. This was due to a minor difference in a machined relief height but was easily fixable.

Based off of my research, all three of these transmissions used the same part number for the differential. With that being said, Quaife had a LSD available for the M56CF3-1 transmission.

I bought the Quaife LSD with part number QDH21B and confirmed that it would fit in the M5CF2-1 transmission bellhousing.

Default Bell housing capability.

Why couldn't you use the M56CF2 bellhousing? Is the other bell housing stronger or is it a transmission compatibility thing?
