Default Beta 1 in 1.5L accent LC ?

Whats would be different in putting an beta 1 instead of a Beta 2 in my lc accent (2000, 1.5L). Can it be done as easily as a beta 2 swap ? and is the beta 2 engine much better ?

hello my friend. I am pretty much asking the same questions as you. Check out my two threads in this hybrid forum section. At present i dont believe there will be a difference between installing a beta 1 or 2. Unless you have a beta 2 with CCVT. Then there might be some electrical wiring differences. . . I was keen on a beta 2 purely because it was newer and according to wikipedia the was sum architicaul impovements yet performance stayed pretty much. The same. But now im keen on the beta 1 as according to wikipedia it has forged steel connecting rods which will be awesome for me cause i will turbo this lump and i have broken conrods before. . . .

Read this: Beta I vs. Beta II

And read this: Beta I to Beta II swap in a RD Tiburon

For extra info, the 00-05 1.6l ECU can read the signal from most of the Beta II sensors, so swapping to a Beta I would require either buying and installing the Beta II sensors, buying and trying to install 1.6l sensors, running on a standalone, or rewiring using a Beta I car's harness. Also, unless you're fabbing parts to make the IM from the Beta I work with a MAP sensor, you would need to get a Beta II IM.

In the end, not worth the trouble at all IMO, even if you could get a Beta I for free. That's why I turned down 2 free Beta I engines.

in the end stay away from CVVT. I couldn't figure out how to wire mine properly and had to have a shop finish up for me. It is fun though when it kicks in (holy sh*t vtec just kicked in!)

The header will fit the non-CVVT or CVVT engine.

You technically might be able to get the car to run without the CVVT hooked up, but it's not ideal at all. You would have to look at the wiring and see if you can figure out how to lock it at the most desirable position, probably fully advanced. It's just a guess, but I'm thinking that if it's not hooked up it's probably fully retarded.

will a cvvt engine locked in fully retard be less powerfull then a non-cvvt engine by much ? also, can normal cams be put in the engine and cvvt mechanism removed ? (and yes, from what i can understand off hma service, its gonna be locked fully retarded)
