It's just a guess, but I would say that you would probably lose 5-10peak hp with it fully retarded, but no or minimal loss of peak torque.

If you can find the voltage range you could always just feed it a steady voltage, that's pretty easy to set up. If you wanted to be fancy you could make something that varied the voltage by RPM or vacuum.

CVVT uses pulse width modulation with cam sensor and oil temperature feedback to accurately adjust the timing, it uses a very complex map. However you could use an rpm switch and have it kick all in at a certain rpm (like vtec?). BTW the signal wire requires a low or ground to activate.

that vtec idea sounds great, how could i get a voltage out of an rpm range tho ?

You would need to use an rpm activated switch. MSD maybe? When the desired rpm is reached you would want to send a ground signal to one terminal on the solenoid. The other would be wired to same 12v that controls the fuel pump or main relay. You also may consider adding some conditional logic like only having it activate at WOT and RPM.

allright sounds simple enough, il prob lose a lil power from not having it thru the whole rpm range but it should be pretty interesting to have it kick in at a certain rpm.

You're going to want to convert it to MAP. What year and car did you get the engine from?
