Auto Vs Manual

completely agree with you. racing with an auto, theres no skill really involved.

In low speed auto x manuals shift in to third maybe once in the inital straight away but then everyone stays in 2nd the whole rest of the time and keep it fast enough for it not to go in to 1st

Manual swap would be great, but the traffic and hills here are too much to bear! And I like the convenience of an automatic

instead of spending your money in some high cost weight reduction , use this money for a good head porting , and if you still have money , buy some cam or better then that , there is a shop in quebec that sell a 2.0l engine for your tib that produce 200 whp for 7000$can www.supertech.riki.ca B)

autos are generally better for your trannies because the same gear shifting happens over and over whereas sometimes people make mistakes or shift differently which leads to abuse. spank.gif
other than that, we ALL know which is better in the longrun. but the autos aren't too bad. especially when you have to make quick movements in traffic. you don't have to think about two things at a time like trying to steer away from the near-miss AND having to switch gears down to the proper gear but instead just steering out of the way in time.
it realy depends!

Actually it's a lot easier, at least for me, to make manuvers in traffic. You have a lot more control and you know that if you are in second you are in second and your car will go this fast, intead of relying on auto tranny computer to shift for you and so on.
I love my automatic (even moreso when it isn't over redlining
). I definitely have sufficient passing power, and can pull out infront of the pack when I want to.
The Tib can freaking fly when you press on it, at a convenience!! Don't have to think twice about cutting into the fast lane and then nailing it to pass by that slow-arse truck going through 8 gears at a light.
I'm looking for that extra 'oomph', who isn't? I hated how my Tib putted around my town. I'm trying to add 10-15 HP to those 140 ponies. It's like going from a base trim, to a performance trim.
I/H/P seems like a good combination of mods for the time being. The OEM pulleys need to be swapped out. Headers/pulleys will definitely help that shift lag with the ATX.
Okay well I'm going to wash my car. It's pretty dirty. yuck.gif
**EDIT**
I usually can indicate which gear I'm in, and I think my tranny computer will downshift or upshift when I WOT in a slow gear. i.e. sometimes I'll be cruising in 3rd, and then I'll instantly WOT and it'll downshift into 2nd..

OP has a very good point. you can use the higher RPM's to pass traffic very easily or knowing ahead of time where you will end up in the next 2 seconds...
but i'll tell yeh, that power switch on our AT's really does the job.
