No, they wouldn't man. We never heard a thing in the US about a Porsche Tuned sports suspension did we? And you'd think they'd do that too.

You never heard a word in advertising about the Mitsu involvment in their engines did we? Nope.

 

not from hyundai, but I did know about the Porsche tuned suspension from Car and driver before I purchased my tib.

What I am saying though.. Lotus does do some of their own designs, but not many. The Elise is actually based on the old Europa's (A car I wish I had bought) front... the most well known Lotus (besides the 7) is the Espirit.. and that was designed in Italy by Giugiaro. Now, from what I have been able to find, the Elise IS an in-house design.. but if there are any of it's genetics in the RD2, it is purely by copying. The simple fact of the matter is, if you want your car's body designed by an outside firm, you go to Italy, not England.

 

Also, Hyundai probably dosn't want it to get out that they needed help from so many different companys. Automotive companies are in competition with one another and have their own internal politics/policies reguarding contracting or various forms of assistance when it comes to automobiles. It's probably in somebody's best interest not to let certain info be widely known.

 

not the first time.. it is a well known underground fact that both the original Datsun 240Z and the MGB were "cleaned up" by the folks at Pininfarina

 

Maybe we know someone in some Hyndai factory or something that can tell us if the Tiburon was whacked off some other car design.
