I did see on a show once where a 911 turbo owned a bunch of cop cars and even a f@cking chopper! That's right the chopper couldn't keep up with the 911! eek! I respect that car. Although the dumbass decided to exit the freeway and got busted rolleyes.gif .

The thing people fail to realize is that maybe your car can go 165MPH while the police car can only go 155MPH. Well, just where the hell can you top it out and what makes you think the cop still can't see you in front of him? DUH!

Too many people watched the DUKES OF HAZZARD and SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT and think its that easy to get away and all cops are stupid. Hey, your car may be a little faster but as long as the cop can still see you, you ain't getting away.

Cop cars have mad power. Last year they were racing snowmobiles (on snow) vs. police cruiser(on pavement) just as a safety demonstration for the snowmobilers. Needless to say the stock sleds kill the cruiser, but watching the cruiser launch and gunn it over & over was amazing. Big power! Wicked launches!!

BTW some sleds here run less than 11 seconds (on pavement) and a wicked fat slick tread!!!

Peace

In Vt the general rule is they shut down at a 150.. But they get there Damn Fast. They guy that works on my furnace (I Am so not messing with that in the winter) has an old Crown Vic cop car .. THEY NEVER REMOVED THE INTERCEPTER package.. Before he worked on it it shut down around 140.

Now that he worked on it about 160.

Not to mention they have trucks now (that was 3 pts I did not need) They do well what ever it is is faster then me..

Just when they catch you. DON'T DROP THE SOAP

My mother's 89 'Vic was a police package car... and no it's not a fable, we bought it as a "program" car from the dealership, first thing we noticed were the blue silicone hoses and a fairly stiff ride.

One day I borrow this car that my mother "grandma'd" around in (she typically drives 5 _under_ the limit) because my V6 Tbird had chewed up yet another $15 water pump.

I'm going down a fairly busy road, ahead is a freeway interchange with I-40/75, so traffic is creeping.... I'm going about 20MPH. I know the brakes are touchy, so I've got a good distance, when a truck roars out in front of me lead-footed.

I was pissed.

I gunned the throttle out of anger...

And the car downshifted (at 20MPH) and whitesmoked both rear tires.

!!! From that day I wanted that car smile.gif

I had an old interceptor package Chev. If it weren't for that car, I'd probably never have gotten so interested in performance cars. smile.gif

It was more than fast enough, but the real surprise was the handling package. At a stock ride height, on 14" steel wheels, that car would out-corner my friend's 240SX, lowered on 16" mags. Not by much, but still...

The new Crown Vics don't have as much difference from stock. A bit of a hotter EFI chip, (And plastic releases for the gas tank -- Anyone remember the Pinto?) and some suspension tweaking to make it handle better. I think the trannies are re-valved, too, for harder shifts at higher RPM. But the engine power isn't much more than stock. Put an upgraded transmission valve body in a stock Crown Vic, and it'll keep up to the cruiser.
