New Stereo
well my goal for this setup is to take it to some competitions so spl is what im looking for 10% of the time the rest of the time the subs will be turned way down for daily driving cause the po po around here are nazi's about systems being to loud
AJ- you should really check out elementaldesigns.com for your amplifier. Numbers are just that, numbers. I had a Boss 3000REV D that supposedly pushed 3000 watts. Needless to say, one alternator later, it just managed to kill my electrical system, AND I had a capacitor as well! Internals are extremely importnat as well. Elemental designs NINe.1 amp was compared internally to a JL 1000.1 and they concluded the NINe.1 interenals where superior! Do a search, you should find the article fairly easily on google. I can say this, I can crank the stereo and turn on my 100 watt Xenon's and they do not flicker! At all! The Boss literally made my car and the engine "pulsate" while going down the road due to the inefficientcy of the internals.
You can get a NINe.1 for 350 shipped with a 3 year TRANSFERABLE warranty. If you sell it to someone else in a year or two, you can sell them an amp with a warranty through the original company! NO ONE else, including names like Sony, JL, Kenwood, or MTX has his kind of warranty program. This should gve you a clue to their confidence in their equipment. 1200 WATTS at 12Vand around 1500 at 14.4. Thats RMS and these numbers are conservative!
Sorry, didn't mean to ramble, I am just so impressed with this company. They are a small company and a a bit unknown, and that is why I try to talk them up. They are the little guy with an amazing product that deserves more recognition.
The rest of your setup looks great! I would check out the Alpine decks though. From my exprience, they really do re-create the soundstage almost perfectly. I went to an Ultimate Electronics and the salesman had me listen to 5 different decks(Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC, Jensen) before the Alpine. All on the same amp and speaker setup with the same song. Then he made me listen to a mid priced 300.00 Alpine unit. I literally heard NEW instrumentation and melodic lines that were never re-created on the other decks! (All the decks tested where mid to upper models of there respective companies. )
The Kicker Subs will kick ass! Heard them at a Circuit City during an install for a guy with a brand new Exterra. Shook the entire store!
Sounds like a great winter project! if you go through with it, good luck. And as always, this is just my .02! cool.gif
Edit: Took me to long to type, now I have to edit! LOL. If you ever really get into competing, its good to know that the NINe.1 are stackable, meaning you can double their output by simply adding an aditional amp later down the road. You can get a solid 2400 WATTS RMS at (12V mind you, even more at 14.4) for only 700.00 SHIPPED.

Go with the new pheonix golds Zs for your subs. they are allot better then most subs out. i have one 12 and it shakes the chit outa me.
kenwoods 789 is a good deck if i were u i would go with the 5028 its cheaper (i think) but has more options.
i would go with ma audio or infinity for 6x9s and 6.5s.
only one thing about amps .... older is better.
i really dont like kicker's there way over rated there like sony explodes every1 wants um but for what? they dont sound good. audiobahn is cheap but again u can get better.
your car isn't going to go boom boom down the street ...more like bam bam down the street with that setup.

i would go ported except this will be going in the trunk of an elantra so air flow will be an issue
the audio bahns will be going as soon as i can afford to get something better in that area. silent why do you say no boom boom only bam bam?

You want 2 good subs that are 10 inches for a good price you will not beat these.

As a ex circuit city employer please do not buy kicker. The only reason they sell them is beacause they lost alpine to the bigger best buy.

ABQ- If you want an Alpine dont let that stop you. You can get an Ai-net to RCA adapter that makes the AI-net port on the back of the Alpine an RCA line level input. Problemo solved.
i didnt know that cause the guys at audio express told me the ipod adapter was the only adapter that plugged into that funky little conector
do you know if you can get ai net to fire wire?
