ok so im just bored and thought i would post about this. i am putting together a new system for my car. here goes the list of parts its going to be composed of. tell me what you think

kenwood kdc-x789 head unit
to send the sound
lanzar opticap50 5 farad cap
on top of all these goodies to keep the power stable
2 10" kicker l7's dual 4ohm voice coils 600 watt max per coil (in a sealed box .72 cu feet per chamber)
run by
lanzar vibe276 2 channel amp 2400 watt max stable at 2 ohms
audibahn 6x9's out back and 6 1/2's up front( these will be gone when funds permit)
run by
lanzar vibe416 amp 4 channel 1000 watt max stable at 4 ohms

i will run 0 gauge from the battery to the cap ( 0 gauge to ground the cap) then to a distrabution block splitting to 4 gauge for each of the amps. and then i will wrap the trunk in some sound deadner not sure which brand yet.

so do you think with this setup my car should go down the street like BOOM BOOM BOOM!?

Dont Buy kenwood for a deck they aren't bad but they lack punch in a lout of areas there are a lot of better brands.

Cap isn't to bad prolly more then youll need but not bad.

Ill be honest kicker is the most overated sub out there. There sound quality blows in there subs. Ive proven this time and time again to everyone i know i will put my system up against kickers any days.

Lanzar is a competition company. They throw power at subs thats about it.

Audiobaun speakers aren't bad becuase they aren't expensive but there are alot of better choices.

Amp for speakers not bad.

Another thing those subs are dual voice coil so you can only get them running at 4 ohms bridges so that amp wont power them.

Sorry to rip your stuff apart. I may not know alot about working on engines. But audio is something i do.

im not upset if anything that helps me out... there are two versions of the l7's i can get dual 2ohm or 4ohm and if i bridge them it will bring the impedance down by half so the amp should run either of them just fine if i remember my electronics correct

what would you suggest in the way of head units?

I couln't realy find the write up on the amp but most amps will run more power rms at 2 ohms then 4 ohms so make sure you check that first.

Did you order the Cd deck yet?

no, i am getting feed back to make sure i have all the right stuff before i spend the mullah. and yes amps generally wil run more power at a lower impedence. the power of an amp also changes due to battery power as well.

My amp is Clif Designs (120 CDN), and my 2 subs are MA Audio (100 CDN Each). I know your probably like what? The amp is 700 watts, and the subs are 12" (max 800 watts). For being basically unheard-of brands (competion, or whatever you call them), these things really hit, and they hit HARD! I wouldn't be afraid to go up against someone who has spent 2 or 3 times as much as me. So don't write off competition brands all that quick, just do a little research. Anyway, just thought i'd put my 2 cents in. smile.gif Also i suggest running the biggest cable possible from your battery to your amp. Believe me it DOES make a difference.

Well amps are rated at 14v. All the capacitor will do is try to keep the voltage steady.

That deck isn't horrible because of the 5v preout but ive had kenwood in the past and i prefer the sound of other decks to be more fullfilling.

Some brands I recommend would be
Alpine-by far the best sound quality
Panasonic- there decks sound awesome
Pioneer- their higher modeld deh6700 and up are just great
Clarion- They make good products lack on visuals tho and are normally overpriced unless you buy online

as far as the subs go you may be partial to kicker but i just put 1 12 inch alpine type r in my car in a slot ported box and it is perfectly clear. Tho i am afraid to really crank because i am pretty sure it will shatter my back window.

as far as price i am keping this relatively inexpensive . it is going to run me just under 800 for the whole kit. gotta love having friends. but hey man if you want to travel your way out here to the wonderful abq and give this setup a run for its money you are more than welcome i have an extra room for you to stay in.

i know what you mean about head units i would go with alpine but the decks that i am looking at from them are 500 and up so no luck there

i am not partial to kicker but i like the sound of the 10" l7's and bang for the buck i can get with them. i cant beat it
