That is not how the city planners do things. It really isn't. Just because you want to build something in an area that is zoned correctly doesn't mean they have to approve it or that they will automatically approve it. If my experience is typical, more often than not the city is going to fight you tearing down a building and replacing it with something else, or even changing the use of an existing building, unless the new use will bring a TON of revenue to the city's coffers.

And for the record, I don't care what anyone else cares to say or believe, I think of Islam as a terrorist organization. Just because a lot of the more moderate followers tend to ignore the violent parts at their discretion doesn't mean that the majority of the Muslim world doesn't want western civilization either converted to Islam or destroyed.

Closely following Islam, Christianity. Put the two together and more people have died and will continue to die by the hands of people following those two religions than for all other reasons put together. Hooray organized religion!

Most places in the USA don't tax religious facilities. The radio talk show host says to follow the money to the Mayor's pocket, or one of his BFFs' pockets. Stuff like this doesn't happen so fast, so 100% for sure, unless SOMEBODY is getting $.

BTW Jesus was peaceful and Mohammed was not. Following Jesus leads to a peaceful life. Following Mohammed leads to jihad. Their religions (if you want to call them that) are pretty much opposites on this topic.

For perspective, this is where they want to exercise their legal rights and freedom of religion etc.:

it doesnt bother me but if people dont want the mosque there, then they should prohibit ALL other churches on the area. everybody have the same rights, its clearly stated on the constitution.

so, the crusades and the "conversion" ... what about natives of the Americas, Pacific Islanders and the African slaves doesn't count....

i personally have muslims friends and they are not terrorist. have i met shady ones? yes i have. do i agree with their religion? NO i don't and that doesn't mean i am going to try to change his mind or whatever.

when i was growing up i used to go to the Presbyterian church on my town and my GF and her family are Buddhist BUT i'm agnostic. i respect religion and what it tries to do but some people take it too personal and think that their religion is the right one or the one that the masses should follow.

The MUSLIM terrorists bombed the building next door in the name of their religion. Now they're putting up a VERY expensive shrine. You can't argue that it's legal, but it's morally wrong.

fac·ile (fsl)
adj.

3. Arrived at without due care, effort, or examination; superficial
4. Readily manifested, together with an aura of insincerity and lack of depth

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, 4th ed. pins your non-argument to the wall.
