Bah you could probably sleep in a Tib if you had to smile.gif Some cars you can get to run and actually make a profit on them while you drive. The Tib, unfortunately, is not one of them. The 1982 Corvette I own has 32K on it and I rarely drive it, and it runs perfect... original engine, interior, etc. I've had offers of 8k over what I paid for it, and I put like 2k into it. GSX is the same way, I'm sure in ten years some kid who loved GSX's when they were a kid will want one thats running 400 AWHP. I've started getting offers of more than what I paid for it already.

You may get lucky and get some of your money back off the car. Think of it like a hobby, like playing golf. Once you factor in the greens fees, all the lost balls, and paying for the cart if your lazy like me, it can get pretty expensive. Just like any other hobby. Just do what you love to do. smile.gif

 

What you got to do is live in the apartment your whole life or buy a small house NEVER GET MARRIED. Then you will have all the money you need and you will have a sweet car and you can do what ever you want to it.

 

There you go tongue.gif There's this small house I'm wanting to get. $40k. Over like 20 years it's $200/month. I could do that and have tons left to mess with my car on. I have a girlfriend but I don't want to get married for another few years. That's a disturbing thought. Kids, wife, blah. Suckage.

Actually it's not even a small house. The town is small (population; 91). The house is a decent size with a garage for my car. It's in great condition. The town is awesome (they have a cafe and the food rocks). Steak dinner for $8.99 and it's home cooked wink1.gif It didn't come from like 7000 cows processed into one steak or anything crazy.

 

must be nice.. I have a 3 bedroom place with garage... 210,000 dollars.. but then NJ is an expensive place to live.

And yes, some cars are worth money, even our tibs will be someday.. it just takes TIME. Take my Fiat spider for instance. I bought her for $400 just three years ago. Decent body, no engine or tranny. Interior was a mess. At that time the asking price for a VERY nice spider was about 5 grand.. I am seeing them hit 15 adn 20 on ebay now.. especially ones like mine that are early in it's 20 year production run.

My lancia is a differnt story. I bought her for 5 grand.. but I can ask whatever I want for that car. with only 1801 inported in 1976 and 77, there are not many left.

 

Not me...i dont use credit cards..i only buy stuff for my car when i have every thing paid for and i have the extra money at my disposal...i may be in college but i have everything under control..my car payments end when my college loan payments begin...

about the spending money on cars..i think its def a good idea to do it when your younger if you can afford it...right now you can show it to all your friends and stuff, but can you imagine a guy like 55 yrs old riding around in a tricked out import and driving it to his office w. the bass pounding?headbang.gif hehe

You know the fact is...if you have to spend money to make yourself feel good/ look good or impress others..then something's lacking in your life. Period...no one get offended, I'm not saying there's anyone here like that. Also think about your age...I'm older then most of you (I'm not saying that I know more) and when I see a 17 thinking he knows something about value...I laugh to myself.

 

^^ Yeah, 40k is a little low for a house. Probably fall apart once you buy it. Most of the one story houses around here with a garage are about 70K around here, and housing is cheap here. My Dad rents out a lot of homes, I know most of the prices. I think my dad usually pays like 70k for one of those houses, and if possible, the land around it to sell for timber.

Its not the feeling of impressing others, its the feeling I did it myself mostly. I did 85% of the work on my cars, and being able to drive em makes me all happy inside. laugh.gif



Bah. So true, who needs a wife and kids running around the house. tongue.gif Its more fun being single anyway. Might get a touch lame after a while. Maybe I'll get married when I'm 40 or something when I can't go clubbing and pick up chicks, even with a Ferrari. LOL.

Seriously...$40k for A HOUSE? If houses wear that cheap around here I'd already have one LOL.

But anyway, my rough estimate for amount of money I invested in my car (including the cost of the car) was $20,000. I figure I've got about $13,000 worth of debt right now. The plan is to pay off all my debts once I win my lawsuit next year or so, and then move somewhere warmer. I don't think I'm ready to own a house just yet. Maybe a condo or townhouse.

In the meantime I'm still gonna dump all my money into my car while I still can.

 

Heh... I still say it's a better option to just get a house and not marry. $200/month house payments versus $300/m apartment. Come on now tongue.gif Renting= bad. You still have to make the payments and the place is never yours.

LOL, no. The house is really 40K. Not 400. NOTHING wrong with it except for it's in a small town. Like I said, population 91. I don't want to live in the town I'm in anymore anyways. It's about 11,000 people (retirement town) and the cops have nothing to do but give parking tickets. It's pretty lame. At least this place has a cafe and is closer to the bigger cities.
