Mad_John - you don't need to send money, you've already sent PLENTY.

Based on what I've received so far, and the members who have told me they'll contribute within a few days, it looks like we'll have about $300 contributed.

I'm considering sending a few things (a plant, gift basket, and flower arrangement). Would sweets basket be better (cookies, cakes, and chocolates) or would fruits be better (pears, apples, oranges, grapes, and pineapple - i could order baskets with 6, 8, or 10 lbs. of fruit)?

I've asked Chris if money would be needed for a funeral, and if he'd prefer me to send flowers or donations (from my wife and I - he doesn't know about this). I'm awaiting a response. If he prefers donations, I'll send all donations directly to him to help pay for the funeral costs.

We want to help T01 through his loss so that he can be back to normal again.

I think chocolate would not be a good idea. Chocolate makes you depressed. I think fruit would be a good idea. Fruit gives you energy.

Flowers are a good idea as well. They look beautiful to help you through the traumatic period, then as they start wilting, you realize how much time has gone by.

Nothing would keep his grief around longer then having a debt over it though.

I agree with DTN.

I'm waiting on a reply from Chris - if they need help with the funeral, I will send him the funds instead of flowers, plants or gifts.

I plan on closing this thread WEDNESDAY so I can put the order in that night and make sure they receive it by Thursday or Friday. If anyone can not send money by then but wishes to contribute, let me know and I'll front the money for the amount you wish to contribute.

However, if Chris would prefer donations instead of flowers, I'll keep the thread open longer to allow for more donations before sending it on to him. He does NOT know about this thread - my questions to him have been in the context of my wife and I sending something to his family. He won't see this thread until he's received the gifts.

Honestly, a fruit basket would be nice and all, but when I'm depressed I eat. So I think maybe some cakes/pastries/cookies might be nice. Food goes to the heart. Fruit is good but I can't tell you how many times I've seen fruit baskets sit practically untouched until it all goes bad. I can donate more as well if need be, money isn't an option as of now so it doesn't bother me. Just let me know Majik.
