well ok so what if it's a bland untrue stereotypical statement, but what did they contribute that other companies haven't? buying daewoo?

i still don't see how they are as innovative as BMW, Honda, Toyota, or have anything better to offer. Compare the two in a 30 year span look how far with innovation Hyundai and Honda have become?

Peugeots and Citroens once available to the U.S. can't even sell their cars here because people love the pumps. And Peugeots are more popular in South America and the rest of the world than any GM.

sorry to get off topic, i find it funny how they take foreign names and don't know the literal meanings of them. what's more funny is what they end up doing to their models.

innovative features?

I remember mid 90's Corvettes automatically locking/unlocking as you walk away from or towards the vehicle. What about the projection on the windshield? I don't remember seeing that on mid-90's sub-$60,000 BMWs and Jaguars. GM has innovation, but they're also not targetting the high-end market. They have some higher end cars, but they're generally the $20,000-40,000 vehicles

A little conjugation...

ir - to go

Voy - I go
Vas - you go
Va - he/she/it goes
Vamos - we go
Van - they go

No Va - it don't go!!! I find that funny. We think of "nova" as an explosion in the solar system somewhere... it's such a general concept to Americans, I never realized it was translated as "it doesn't go" in Spanish... and I've had 6 Spanish classes (2 high school and 4 in college - 3 of which advanced)

What has hyundai been the innovator of? I can agree with the honda end of that statement, but what has hyundai done that no other company has done yet?

lmao Yea theres a city round Gainesville named LaCrosse, means the stick in French hence the name of the sport (great sport btw) maybe the literal trans has somethign to do with it too

o I didnt realize about the translation. A lot people said it so I believed it and never looked it up. Online it says a hockey stcik golf club or rifle butt; Im guessing they got it from there because all those things are stick like I guess.

HAHA thats funny. Even funnier that they cant sell something that says masturbation. Maybe they should use that in the commercial. Some stupid slogan like. With this new GM LaCrosse you will be left wondering what you were doing for all those years. Or something stupid like that.

As for the rest of the debate. I dont think that GM has been an inovator of anything in the last 15 years. Especially not in the last 8 years. All their vehicles have been knock offs of other countries cars. And now under the hood of the Saturn Vue you will find a Honda motor. GM had its day in the past with the Muscle cars and is struggleing to keep up in the new society. GM's solution in the past was if you want more power get a bigger motor. Which is true in some cases. I will go to the track and see a chevelle just stomp a mud hole in any import off the line cause you cant beat the amount of power the V8's Generate off the line but in the long run the motor is ineffecient and will lose the race due to higher fuel consumption and less aero-dynamics the car cant keep up with a smaller powerplant that has more topend. Newer engines are more powerful than they ever were in the past and smaller. I used to be a v6/v8 guy in the past. Growing up with camaros and firebirds. GTOs and Chevelles. Never once did I ever wanna pull the v6 out of my firebird to put a 4 cylinder in it. I wanted to drop a 350sbc in it. Now with turbos and forged internals. You can build one hell of a beastly motor out of a 4cylinder. With lighter bodied cars a 400hp I4 beast will out perform a 600hp v8 nova, chevelle, or camaro in all aspects, espeically fuel consumption. So now with that said GM is coming from a long line of v8 performance and inblock cams. Give them some time they will either sell out or buy in. Either way. We are looking at a new age of muscle cars. Our Hondas and Hyundai's would be their Mustangs and Camaros

Also dont compair apples to oranges. Dont compair a BMW to a GM vehicle. Dont compair a Viper with a Ford Escort. The price difference = the amount of technology devloped and used in the vehicle. a BMW M5 is a vehicle that would out perform an every day stock corvette, and its a full bodied 4 door sedan. With a 5.0L V10 rated at 499hp yet it still manages to pull off better fuel economy than the corvette. You pay for what you buy in technological inovation and standards.

/end of rant

gm have contributed next to nothing in motorization.

On-Star...I have yet to see it in any other vehicles. Yeah, it seems kind of lame that you have to pay for it, but over the past 5 years my dad has had 2 GM On-Star equipped vehicles. Its definitely got some nice safety features, especially when your airbag goes off and if you don't respond they contact emergency services for you.

The funeral home that I work for had a limo stolen 2 years ago, and thanks to "GM innovation" they managed to track the car down and recover it. And now with all the current features, like having them tell you why your engine light is on, as opposed to taking to a dealer to check the codes. I kinda wish I had that for when the light comes on in my car...all because the "exhaust is too hot" or some BS like that.

Theres tons of other features. My boss enjoys starting and warming up his Escalade from a block away with just a phone call, or having them open his doors when he locks his keys in it, instead of calling a tow truck and risking damage to the vehicle if opened improperly....
