Bleh I know. I guess I just get a little frustrated on how other countries view us sometimes. Especially since we usually give them humanitarian aid and it seems like they hate us for it. lol.gif

I do agree that 22 million really isn't too much help (I think thats the number the U.S is giving) but considering France is chipping in an all mighty 139,000 dollars I'm rather teed off. tongue.gif

The government also offered to send troops from Okinawa to help out. Hopfully this will help with public relations.

Man, a couple of coincidental incidents, and we have doomsday speak. The average temperature of the globe varies in an S wave pattern if you look over millions of years, we just happen to me near a peak. As for the snow south, there was a Continental Polar airmass that dipped down far into the US (it happens from time to time). This airmass shot through and now there is a warm air mass (Maritime Tropical) that is moving through this week. As for the tidal wave, that was caused by an 8.9 earthquake that had nothing to do with anything else previously discussed. It was a separate incident, though it did happen at an odd time, rebounding off from the odd weather here.

I guess what I am trying to get at is that there are explainations for everything that has happened in the last few weeks, and it is not the end of the world, nor is it a sign of global warming or Armageddon.

While this earthquake had nothing to do with global warming, there's no doubt that we're experiencing a substantial warming trend. But there is a lot of doubt as to whether we are causing global warming. It could just as easily be caused by the sun: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/56456.stm

This site has some good info: http://www.exploratorium.edu/climate/

I think it's an issue that's overhyped. There's a lot of propaganda on both sides, and a lot is made of evidence scientists don't fully understand. BBC has links to a lot of articles from both sides. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/sci_te...nge/default.stm

It would still be nice to get our pollution under control, for our health if not so much the earth's. All the grandfathered coal-burning power plants in the U.S. need to be shut down or forced to comply with pollution laws. I'll do my part by driving a hybrid: http://www.fast-autos.net/mitsubishi/mitsu...hiconcepte.html

Cdog, actually....Being on a ship there would be almost NO CLUE. Tsunamis in the open ocean are EXTREMLY hard to find. All of the height from a wave of this kind is only readily visible once it gets near shore where the terrain below begins to rise. Think of a shorline like a giant ramp.

Rhaetz, First off, it was a 9.1 earthquake. And yes the wheather phenomena that created the snow in texas has happened before, and will happen again. It will also become more common, thats where global warming comes in. Yes, there are possible other causes, and yes global warming and Iceages are a normal part of our planets cycle, as are the effects of the Suns cycles. But let me ask you this :

You all know how Cruise Control works, but, have any of you ever put your car into neutral and turned on cruise control before??

Think of our planets normal cycles as cruise being engaged at 40mph.

Now put your car in nuetral and turn on Cruise.....what happens??

One other thing that most people seem to forget about when speaking of global warming and the damage we have done to our atmoshere is that there is ALOT of Co2 locked up in polar ice. What happens when all that Co2 is added to the already higher than normal levels we have now???

Here is a couple of other things for you guys to play with, the second link is also at the bottom of the Article from the 1st link. Its really cool. I wish it had a simulation like the one REDZ posted though.
