An earthquake that was a 9 on the rictor scale cause the tidal wave. Hopefully there will not be anymore earthquakes.

From what I heard on the news, the last time there were major earthquakes like this one that cuased Tsunamis was back in the 50s and 60s. They said when there's one, there is probably going to be more. :x

On the earthquake topic, what most of you don't know is that there was also a 8.1 quake off between Australia and Antarctica last week.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...a_antarctica_dc

For some reason it didn't get much coverage. And this quake happened before the one that created the Tsunami's. Of course the 9.1 quake is over ten times as strong as the one off of Australia.

I have modified this topics title to take into account the other natural disasters being discussed here in addition to Global Warming.

It's the end of the world as we know it, its the end of the world as we -

c'mon everyone, sing along!

it's gonna be 58 degrees here on Saturday. I sure as hell aint complaining.

Just think, there are so many factors in the environment and everything that are keeping us alive. Like imagine how much different the planet would be if it was tilted differently or spun slower or yada yada yada.

but speaking of the tsunami I heard its up to 50,000 dead.

I've missed all the video coverage of the Tsunami. Where can I find some of the videos?

Yeah, I heard 60,000 dead. What really pisses me off is that other countries claim the U.S is being "stingy" in donating to those people when we are donating 3x more than other countries.

Did we get any help from other countries during the Flordia hurricane fiasco? Damage was in the billions, but did anyone say: "Hmm, lets give the U.S a few thousand gallons of fresh water? I don't think so. The U.S has tracking systems, so no, 60,000 people did not die, but the damage is comparable. Not that I know of, and Florida people needed food, shelter, etc. as well.

If I were president, I would not help other nations that didn't thank and appreciate and help us with things (Iraq, etc.). We give so much to other countries and we get crap in return usually.

Now that is unamerican. I understand what you are saying, but we are a rather generous nation when it comes to disasters. We are usually the first to jump in and help dig out the bodies and rebuild the country. Like us or not, nobody can take that legacy from the good old USA.

And I do agree.. we are being stingy.. if we were bombing them, we would have already spent twice as much as we pledged... it is a shame we spend more to kill people than to save them.
