Best of luck with the surgery, You will be just fine, I broke my back in a motorcycle accident and busted my t11 and t12 vertebrate along with three of the disc, they had to cut part of my hip out to rebuild my spine and attach several titanium rods and screws to hold it together and I walked out of the hospital 14 days later, considering I also had 18 fractures in my ribs and punctured and collapsed both lungs plus a dislocated shoulder and broken arm thats not bad. Went back to work 9 months later, I get some aches and pains but it's all good, you will be sore for a few weeks so just take it easy and you'll be alright.
