Oh man, I don't even think you remember me, but me, Random, Jaws021, and Spiffywerks would hang at Tony's house in El Segundo chatting about the crazy technical stuff you used to bring to the table. I was on TeamSR just before the massive revolt and spawn of HP.com Glad to see you around. Tony hit me up recently, he's expecting a baby soon smile.gif Me and Sonic (alex) showed up late to his wedding, lol, but we were right on time for the food. I should try to get the other OGs to hit up some threads here for sh!ts and giggles.
I can't believe I'm still around. They damn near threw me out the scene, haha.

There was a revolt @ TeamSR? I guess that happened after I fell off the planet. When I came back it was bundled up in HA.org and all the HA.com links are broken. . . and I got banned from HA for saying "boo" to an HA mod LOL nana.gif
I was so bummed when FXTreme went under, it was the only place for really good info aside from hmaservice. One of the reasons I like RDTiburon.com is there's a high Good Stuff/Crap ratio, unlike some other Hyundai boards *cough*newtiburon*cough*

We have crap here too, but the fact is, people like Random, Red, and nowadays, Redzman, keep the forums in line for the most part. I think all at once back in the day, everyone just looked at SR, or I guess Brad mainly, and said why pay for OUR own knowledge. Screw an SR banner (I never got mine) 02.gif
hehe. But yeah, this is just a generally good place to hang around if you're more into the technical side of tuning, and not the flash and showoff found damn near everywhere else. Plus they handle that bad apples here, and regulate on the people that need it. No one knows that better than this guy smile.gif
Back on topic, HEY RED, do you think I should hold off on getting a new pair of 4 lug hubs and just go full 5 lug swap? My bearings are effin toast, and I'm sure the hubs are rounded at this point. I've been wanting to get some nice 5 lug deep dish wheels forever, but I'm still rockin the Batlord Z5000 Racing Harts smile.gif I figure it'll be at least 40 bucks for bearings, 25 each to press em, and another 100 ea. for new hubs just to have what I have now, without the damn bearing grind. So that's a good 300 for parts right there. I need some OG hyundai guidance mang.

I remember ya BlackTib wink1.gif I talk to Dyb every so often (when he answers his phone, of course) and make fun of him constantly for the Prius.

I did it only because I wanted to "cheaply" upgrade brakes. The RD1's are great because they weigh far less than the GK's, so you don't need quite so much brake underneath to begin with. A 14" Rotera kit for $2000? Pfft, that can lick my left nut, as I will never in this life need that kind of stopping power. A nice 11" EBC slotted and dimpled rotor, red "Hyundai" calipers from a GK GT, some Ultimate semi-ceramic pads and a set of SS brake lines, and I'm set for life. This will be more than enough stopping and heat-dissipation power than I will likely ever use in this setup. Now granted, if I were road-coursing it every day for months on end, it would be a different story.
But, if you're already stuck with replacing all four corners anyway, you might as well step it up one more notch and get it over with. Another cool part? The different rear K-frame assembly moves the rear knuckles and splines about by about 1/2" on each side. The result is your rear wheels are almost flush with the body, versus the ugly stock part where the rear wheels are kinda "in" the car. And since it's the whole knuckle that moves out, you're not killing the wheel bearings with a fat spacer.
I got really lucky and picked up all four knuckles, hubs, rotors, and even the calipers for $100 from an individual who flipped their '03 into a ditch. Part of that was me going out there with an air compressor and a pile of tools and removing them myself though wink1.gif However, you can steal the rear knuckles from pretty much any '01+ Elantra or '03+ Tiburon, it's only the front knuckles that must be an '03 or '04 4-banger Tib or else your axles won't fit.

Red, i don't remember you probably because i was only an onlooker in 1999 and 2000, then highly active over at the wrc.com forums from 2001-2002 when we had ton of intelligent people discussing Hyundai WRC programme--best LIVE. 02.gif miss those days...
from reading your post, i wish we had a big close group like you. natural, respectful, happy, knowledgeable, and full. that's what i remember being a part of at wrc.com, that's what i remember it was like when i first arrived here in 03' '04. tons of intellect all over makes you want to enjoy discussing. ...gotta realize though too much and your eyes will crap out on you. it's been fun, and i wish you would have stayed a bit longer. well, take it easy.
