Thanks Random. Yeah...the ES stuff is the only stuff I would buy since I heard it was their top product line. I'll look into it a bit more before making a decision. smile.gif

Some of the best brands, from my experience:

Hu's:Alpine
Amps:Alpine,Fosgate
Processors:Fosgate,Audio Control
Midbass woofers:Canton,MB Quart
Midrange:Canton,Jl,Polk
Tweets:Same as midrange
Subs:Fosgate,Polk

I never cared much for Sony. Each to his/her own, though.Really depends on what level of listening you're at.

Ive heard that if you get one thing that is sony, you should make it all sony. I've just heard that their products dont agree really well with other products, only their own. So I think it'd be alright. I'm not real hip on sony, but if its affordable, it would be good.

I will throw my two cents in the pot on Sony. The head units are great up until about two years ago. Then they started dropping their best features of them. That is not to say that they aren't good. I had a Sony ES head in my car for the last ten years. Never had a single issue with any of them. Any of the heads that had a DSP control to run the XDP-210EQ were the best. This EQ/X-over was fully digital and run from the head itself. Then Sony got the bright idea to drop the DSP controller for a built in joke. Their next Darwin move was dropping ESP on the high level units. The CDX-M650 was the last REAL Sony head unit. Find one on E-Bay along with the XDP-210EQ and you will have some serious tunability.

Sony amps are good, clean power for those on a budget. Never got a chance to put an ES in before my system got yanked.

Sony Speakers are good for budget minded folk, but pass if you are in for the sound off scene.

My overall suggestions of all the different gear I have installed for myself and others would be a Sony or Clarion head, with Boston Acoustics components, never found anything to change my mind yet. Power and subs are all relative to what your budget and sound requiremnets are. Listen to all you can afford and decide from there. My thoughts on making a system from all one company is that you won't be satisfied with what you end up with.

Well, see...my main reason behind sticking with all one manufacturer is that I plan on getting sponsorships, like I did with my last car. I was sponsored by MTX and part of Thunder Force. Now I want to do something completely different and see what else is out there for me try out. Money isn't an issue, but I don't know many manufacturers that have ALL parts and components of an audio/video set up. If any of you know other manufacturers that do, then give me a heads up and I'll look into it. wink Thanks so much! smile.gif

if i had to go with all of one brand, i think i would go for alpine. there new type s series components sound decent and i love there head units cause they have 60 x 4 and have decent tuning ability.(even though i own a kenwood)
