Oh course don't forget the other things you can use the butane for too. I have a butane torch and it helped with removal of hockey stick blades from aluminum shafts. Multi-use equipment is great.

If you are splicing wires, I wouldn't bother using solder.It's time consuming and an all around PITA.Just use butt crimps and a crimping tool.It makes a great connection as long as you do it right, and it's much faster.

If you are hell bent on soldering wires, just make sure you splice them together real well before applying the solder.
