I bought a set of RCA cables to run my front stage components. Now there is the left and right channels, then there is a third, smaller wire that runs down the middle with a spade connector on each end. Now what is this wire for? Do I just ground it out on the body at each end? I'm guessing if that is the case of grounding it, that it's for less distortion or interference.

I suck at electronics but I would say that yes that would be the ground. I'm not sure if you should need a ground with RCA's though.

Is it possible that those are just the connectors for the other side of the RCA's? I dunno, I thought they just went from port to port.

never even heard of this, but tapping into ground at each end wouldnt hurt anything.

it almost sounds like a video cable... generally they have three RCA ends per.. one for each channel of sound and a Yellow coated third RCA for the video signal.

It's a remote turn-on wire for your amp.

Yep, remote turn on. You must have bought a fancy pair.

Really only useful when wiring just a sub amp imo.

It could just be a remote turn on, but why use spade terminals to hook it up? I could see it being at the amp end, but not the deck end. I'll post up a pic later so you can see what I'm talking about.

You can buy wire taps that take the spade end. That's probably what is intended.
