Didn't say it for a while so...... YOUR CAR IS HOT!
AS for the reservoirs, It looks good, but I wouldn't do it, since you can't see the fluid level that way...

sasha, i have a neat way of checking the fluid level. just get a long bolt or something, dip it in the resevoir from the top until it hits the fluid. take note of the spot on the bolt the lines up with the top of the resevoir. then just hold it next to the resevoir with the same spot at the stop. you should be able to compare easily.
finished molding on my carputer junk. im kind of dissapointed in the outcome, but it will do for now. im in a mad dash to get stuff done before i head off to school. there are some problems with the paint because i rushed it and also because a couple bugs landed in it when it was wet, but it really doesnt look too bad. i also really skimped on the sanding so it is wavy hear and there. that green bondo stuff was used for this. gel i think it is...
bondo sanded...

layed down some(a bunch really) glazing putty...

after wetsanding...

test fitting in the car...

primered...

painted & cleared...

i just realized after it was done that i had a 9 in 1 card reader i was going to mold in there, but im not messing with it now. ill just mount it under the pass. seat or something. also need to find a way to power my usb wintv tuner. it needs 6 volts so i could probably use my carpc power supply, but i dont feel like cutting anymore holes in the case. ill have to see.

Dude, this is one huge thread, and let me tell you, you have done a G-R-E-A-T job with your car. I wish I had time to do so with my car.
How would you rate the noise insulation? Does it work fine with the sound system? How about NVH with the stereo off; does it improve a lot the ride quality (sound wise I mean).

it definately helped and is very noticeable. the question of whether or not it was worth the work is still up in the air though. i dont think ive ever tackled a project that big in my entire life. everything else in this thread was nothing compared to that sound deadening.
i upgraded the sound system while doing this, so i really dont know if the sound was upgraded. i just know it souns f***ing good. wink1.gif
road noise was dramatically reduced though. i can barely hear my car cranking from inside the cabin, even with my super loud exhaust.

t01 you take everything apart! brainchild... i still can't believe you. those rear speakers and tweeters look awesome. i bet they clarified the sound 100x better. i'd be so scared of messing with all of those wires.
yeah i've been trying to finish up my car before school but that surely isn't happening. not to mention lowering my car right now isn't going to have candy results. it feels like a minivan right now, but when i'm driving on these alps called roads i'm quite happy my frame is at least safe.

Hey tibby, sorry to bump this up, but I just read through the whole thing and I'm curious about something that I don't think was ever Fully answered. How much of a drop in noise did you experience after you added the sound deadening? I know that it was quieter in your garage, but how about on the road? Highway driving?
At the moment my car is loud as crap due to some unknown rear-passenger wheel/tire/assembly noise buzzes like a civic's exhaust, but after I get new wheels and rubber in December (which will hopefully solve that problem) I wouldn't mind quieting the car as a whole down, so I'm curious.

it's definitely a noticeable difference on the roads. just closing a door or the hatch you can tell the difference. i think if i were to do it again though i would have gone with fatmat for a little more money. heard its supposed to be even better by people who have experience with both.
wind noise is gone, you just get a little bit of road noise. dont expect it to get rid of buzzes though. you have something wrong and should get it taken care of. it might, but there is an easier fix to eliminating it then going through all this.
