Which one of these head units should i go with

http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2008...2385078991.html

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Pro...yers/DEH-P600UB

If you have any better suggestions around the $180-$200 range feel free.

Im looking for something that will give me good Quality sound. I like my 6x9's to bump with clear sound and clear bass. They bump pretty good with the stock hyundai cd player but i wanna eventually hook up my subs.

both look really good. Both have the minimum features I would require: Sub/RCA output, sub control, iPod connectivity... both have bluetooth optional add-ons.

Thus, I would go on looks alone, and the Pioneer looks better. Most head units in that price range are going to give you the same sound quality and features, so just go on which you think looks better - which to me, is the Pioneer.

I've always thought Pioneer had the nicer displays and aesthetic value, and I like the one you've chosen.

eh... I've also had a good amount of tequila tonight, so consider other recommendations along with mine.

^^ That's why I didn't post. It's a balance between ease of use and looks. Obviously the one with a ton of buttons on the front is going to be easier to use. The other one looks better.

My friend has the clarion, you should get it. I really like the slide track thing. Sound is good too. Obviously it probably doesn't look as good as the pioneer but it's pretty cool.

i would go with the pioneer. just because i have one and it's the best stereosystem i've ever heard and not just because it's mine. they really put some sense into their products although they're way overpriced, wait about 1 year after the product has come out. you'll probably get it for half price later if it's a new model.

as far as other options go, depending on where your looking, i have always found alpine to be one of the best bang for the buck

the ida-x001 by alpine as well as the cda-9886 have been two really nice head units, if you look on ebay they go for about 120 brand new, or around you can get them pretty cheap

they come with the sub hook ups, as well as bluetooth and many other options including full ipod control and such, just thought i would throw that out there as more options

edit: just looked at the pioneer, might want to be careful with that one, we have it in walmart and a friend had it and within about 2 months the knob would break and its pretty much useless then, since the knob is on a ball point pivot it would just break from use.

I would honestly look at alpine. They will be a little more money for all the options you want, but its well worth it. As a classically trained musician, I am EXTREMELY picky on my audio quality. I shopped for a head unit for about a month before I settled on an Alpine head unit. The telling tale was at an Ultimate electronics and we listened to one section of one jazz piece on about 7 different brands. When he finally put it on the Alpine, there was an instrument that was completely unheard, a flute, in the other units including Sony, Clarion, Pioneer, JVC, and Jensen I believe. A few others I cant remember. I couldn't beleive it! For sound quality and workmanship, I'd save your pennies and go with an Alpine.

Always liked Alpine for Head Units. All the speakers in my RD2 are Audiobahn and the HU is Alpine. Everything is also powered by a seperate amp though.
