I used the stock wires.. wired the amp output to the speaker wires in the center console (those that normally come directly out of the headunit).
But don't TAP into the wires, disconnect them completely from the headunit, and just connect them to the amp outputs.

yeah radu i was thinking that. instead, i was able to get a small hole in the grommet... and slide the wire from there into the speaker. so it looks like it goes from speaker.. wire.. wire comes out of the grommet in the middle of the grommet, and then from there the wire stretches into the fuse box area.. through the little step thing... into the crossover box under my seat.

i have a BIG worry that the wire will be damaged since the door somewhat closes on it... not to hard but a little. i will take a picture tomorrow to show

HEY STOP RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!

to power your front door speakers from a amp you just tap into the speaker wire at the stereo harness. LEAVE THE DOOR WIRING ALONE!!!!!! your just going to comprimise the weatherproofing by trying to tap into them at the door.

You could butt-splice or otherwise connect the new wires to the old speaker wires in the door and then pull the old wires back through the grommet and fish the new ones that way.

Why would he use the stock wires when he went and spent the money on a set of nice component speakers? He would never see the best those speakers have to offer if he were to reuse the stock wires. Just cause you half ass your setup doesn't mean people should follow your lead.

^^ Speakers are like 4ohm, so the currents going into speakers are fairly small, e.g. sqrt(100 watts / 4 ohm) = 5 amps (RMS). So at 100W RMS you would have average currents of 5 amps. So most any wire should suffice, unless you are running like a 750-1000W speaker lol. The wires that came with the aftermarket speakers that I had were no bigger than the stock ones.

I'd just make sure that the wires going to the front console from the trunk (if that's were the amp sits) are a little beefier than stock because they are quite long and "add up" to those.

Slugger yes that will work. It isn't the prettiest, but it will work.

Radu... I understand the eletronics side of this. So you are telling me 5 feet of 18ga 8 strand wire is better than running 10 feet of 14ga 25 strand wire to a speaker that is trying to produce mid to high freq.? Yes you can use the stock wires without fear of the power burning them up. We can even go outside of the numbers that most people wont understand, hook the same component speakers up with the equivilant of the stock wire then swap them over to a better qaulity audio wire and tell me the sql did not improve. I'm sorry I have helped install and fix enough systems to know that the better wire does make the difference in sql. If all you want is spl then you can probly scrape by with the stock wire cause you are only trying to get you door speakers to try and keep up with your sub, not put out the clearest and fullest sound.

you dont run the tweeter wires to the amp, you run them to the x-over
