Hey guys, I was wondering something. Ive seen some really expensive rca audio cables (from the head unit to the amp) that were really expensive and Ive seen the cheap radio shack rca's that were only a couple of dollars. When it comes to speaker wires, power wires, and ground wires, I know its good to have a thicker gauge depending on how much power you're pushing. Is it the same with rca's or do those cheap ones from radio shack do the job just as well?
like most things in life, you get what you pay for. I wouldn't buy the most expensive ones, but definitely not the cheap-o ones either! Find a good quality set reasonable priced and you should be good to go.
Go to http://www.monoprice.com and get yourself a set of RCA's there. Super high quality, and very cheap in price.

If you make your RCAs out of unshielded untwisted speaker wire, you will get noise. A basic set of shielded RCAs will get you all the signal quality you need. Step up the ladder one level in price and you will get cables that do not degrade/corrode internally over time. Step up again and you get cables that will last forever if you treat them reasonably. Step up again and you are buying only a name brand. Consider road noise and then think about the non-difference you won't hear by overspending on cables.
