Default Components or 4 way speakers

Which is better for front door speakers...components with individual tweeters and speakers or a good set of 3 or 4 way all in one speakers?

It depends...if you're running the speakers off of an amp, I would go with components as they usually can take alot more power than regular all-in-one speakers. Otherwise if you're just going to run them off the stock wiring and head unit...go with a good quality 3 or 4 way speaker.

Even 2-way coax speakers do suffice for the headunit and offer enough sound quality. 3way or 4way is not necessarily better.

Components do sound better, but may also be more expensive and harder to mount (tweeter).

Another reason than power to go for components: If you have mounting spots (like the tiburon RD) for tweeters you would raise the stage ie the music is directed at your head rather than your feet. That does sound a lot better. Most seperate tweeters come with housings that can be mounted on the dash. A-pillar mounting may put the speakers too close to your ears.

There is no reason to get a 4 way speaker for a car, period. 3 is pushing it, and 2 is all you need for a well-designed speaker from a quality manufacturer.

@BobG you can take my "not necessarily better" and turn it to "not worth it" as in: I wouldn't do it.
