Default Automatic Aftermarket Shift knobs

Ima newbie at the whole posting thing, but is there a way to remove the automatic shift knob and replace with an aftermarket one on the 2000 elantra. thanx alot peps

I did it with my 2001 tiburon but i know it is different on your car. Where in texas do you live?

El Paso, I think it should be the same or at least close to it. Do you have any pics you could post or tell me a way that you did it?

I have a 2000 Elantra, and the MOMO auto shift knob goes on soooo easy. Here is a pic of it installed:

I have a 2001 tiburon and i remember i was trying to help someone with a 2000 tiburon do this mod and had problems halfway through. So they are different....i don't mind doing a how-too or anyting like that, i just don't want the same thing to happen to you. oh yea, that red switch that is mounted in the coin holder is where i put my overdrive switch....later

Thats not CF he color matched his interior to the stock paint.The question I have is what did you do with the overdrive button? I put a aftermarket knob on too but its a obx with od button and I'm not feeling it now that its installed.

Okay cool, is there anyone out there that didnt rewire the switch or just left it off? Now that i found out that some one else has done it with no problems how do you get the stock shifter off.

I left my OD switch disconnected.I figured out which 2 wires are being used to keep the OD turned on,then I shorted those 2 together.So,it's permanently in OD........can't turn it off.Which as far as I'm concerned is no biggie.
