^^^^ depends on how much FG or wood you use and the speakers themselves.

when you find what you want. get me the part numbers and i'll get you some numbers. i am hooked up with two distributors now and get pretty good prices and shipped directly to you.

I'm not going to hate on the other companies which they have posted their opinion on, but I cant complain on what I am currently running... Zapco amps and zapco componant sets (very good high/mids) and Image Dynamics idmax 12's (very precise hits, good quality triple stack magnet) clear and concise and sounds great... another thing people dont take into consideration is the setup of your audio, make sure you are "aiming" each audio componant where you want. sound waves dont go disperse throughout the car, setting up your audio system will make a huge difference in your sound quality.

do you think it would make a difference if i just get new speakers, headunit, and a good amp without subs?
i'm thinkin maybe i don't want to go with any subs but just wondering if theres a point in adding an amp wihtout subs? would it be a noticable improvement over stock? or is it not worth it unless i go with subs as well?

Don't get an amp if your not buying subs to go with it. Otherwise it is just going to sit there doing nothing because it won't be hooked into anything. Well, you can get a multi-channel amp to run more power to the 4 speakers in the car(2 in front and 2 in back) but you wouldn't want to do that unless you replace those speakers with ones that are better. Basically, don't get an amp if your not buying the coordinating piece(s) i.e. subs or speakers.

Have you checked out the link in my sig yet? No? Then check it out.

Yes, much better. A lot of people think that when you amp speakers your just gonna make them louder, but thats not the only thing that happens. If you have a speaker that can handle 70watts RMS and your only powering it with a HU thats giving it like 12.5 watts (50 watts divided by 4 channels) max, then its starving for power. You can actually damage good speakers by not using an amp to run them, because when you start to max out an amp it will start to distort, which is what kills speakers. So if you plan on turning your stereo up to a louder level semi-frequently, then your gonna need/want an amp not only for the louder sound, but the crystal clear sound at higher volumes.

In short, If you want a good system thats gonna last a long time. Get a 4 channle amp. Old soundstream amps are great amps for SQ (sound quality).

ok cool.. good to know..
cause i really don't want any subs in the trunk to weigh down my car.. i measured two 10's in a box that i have in my room and it weighs 67 lbs!..

so what i think i'm gonna do is get the 4 channel amp and wire it to my speakers..
any good speakers and amps you guys recommend for this setup?

Speakers - Older MB quarts
JL Audio

Amps - Phoenix Gold XS series
Soundstream Van Gogh or Rubicon series.

Your gonna have to match the speaker and amp wattages. But most likely youll look for something in the 75 - 100watt range for each speaker.
