Another Fiberglass Speaker Box
im telling you man, it wouldnt sound bad at all. experiment with your comp. center channel to see if you can honestly tell a difference, and if its still worth it to cut through the crash pad and the gobs of wiring and ventilation routes running RIGHT under where you probably want to cut.

This thing has sat around for too long without a decision as to what I'm going to do with it. So I'm going to finish it, and see what it looks like. Then I may or may not come up with some custom speaker grill with the letters DTN etched out of a piece of fiberglass.
I got finger prints all over it when taking it out to the car, but what do you think of this?

LOL. forever. November I think, but I was planning it before that.
Btw. I kinda feel embarissed now because I didn't change out my floor mats or cleaning the car before taking pix and posting them here.

Thats what I use my usps boxes for to. Then I flip them inside out and use them. It looks out of place but it will no matter what. Its more for sound and functionality than looks though I think.

Well, I'm still not sure if it looks good myself. I need to see it in the daytime. My camera takes better pictures then I can see LOL.
Wires should not be a problem though. I can drill a small hole straight through the crashpad, like 1mm or so. If I decide to remove it, the hole could be plugged, or the alarm LED could be put there.
Here's a better picture

I decided to ditch this project. I don't like it. It dosn't look good, in fact it's an eye sore. I tried coating it with a soft bedliner so that it looked more like vinyl, but even then, it still didn't look like it belonged there.
In order to make it work, i'd have to make a gauge pod or a shift light on the other side of the driver's console.
If anyone comes up with a badass way to mount a speaker in the center of the vehicle on top of the crashpad, let me know.

hey DTN would u ever consider making some kind of box in the roof? like where that flip down compartment is in the center of the car behind the lights. it would take some imagination but u could take the flip down door off and make a box so the speaker faces down and back. i dunno that thought just came to my mind and i decided to post it lol.
