I read the DIY that was posted in the other thread.. it seems pretty easy if you take your time. Just one question Phorq.. what do you connect the LEDs to for power?? I see the pic of the 9v battery on that DIY and u said you used the 9v just to take the pic... but where/how would you wire it up at? I dont know anything about LEDs and resistors, i wanna do this but i just need to know where to get the power from..

Thanks
Peace

as for where to run the wires... looks like i'm gonna run it through the door near the bottom through a loom to the cabin. When i got my alarm installed, they did one of these for the driver side solenoid, so i'll run the wire through that pre-existing one, and copycat it on the passenger side. as for power, i already have a 16g wire (city lights)and a 4g wire running from the batt throuh the firewall (there's a very hidden hole in the firewall of the tib). and i'll proly tap into that before it reaches the switches. If i can secure a heated garage to work in this week, i'll hopefully finish then, and of course keep you folks updated. thanks for all the positive feedback.

I have another idea. You could also use neon string.Might be a little easier. Then you could also use 1 red and 1 blue.Figure out how to connect them to the hot/cold,like some one already mentioned.

As far as wiring, the easiest thing would be to connect them to the wiring that's already in the door. That way you don't have to screw with figuring out how to get it tru the door.Only thing though, the neon or LEDs will only be on when the parking/driving lights are on.

Just throwing some different ideas around.

Couldn't you take it a step further and run and wire it to the window lock button or some other type of toggle switch? You could have a little more control that way.

I'm about to start this mod in the next day or so ... and have a couple questions ... how deep are the cuts supposed to be and what did you use to fasten the rings in the vents.

oh man, i just spent the last 45 minutes typing up a make-shift DIY, and an error occured while adding the reply... grrr...
well, here we go again... cliffs notes version.
tools needed:

follow the steps in the Angel Eyes DIY.
this is one of my trashed halos:

as you can see, the cuts don't need to be that even, or that deep. when viewed from the front (red background pic) the shape of the rod reflects (refracts?) the cuts to make them look evenly deep/wide. also, be careful when making the holes at the ends of the rod to insert the LED. That dremel tool above with the ball-cutter is just the right diameter. just make sure not to melt the rod, or it will crack and warp like the one above did (hence the reason for trashing this one). make quick drillng motions and leave brief cooling moments to avoid melting at the ends.

as for the door part, this is the only pic i took:

the top of a soda can (around the lip) is just about the right size. the ring will rest on the 2 slats in the tube (red arrows), if you try to put them anywhere else, the vents will not move up/down/left/right when re-installed. the drivers door ring needed one of the little zip-ties to hold it into place. the passenger side fit better and was snug enough not to need a zip. two little holes were drilled to thread the zip-tie through. one bigger hole to slide one LED through, then the other LED. Slide the LEDs into the ends of the rods and secure the resistor and wire to the outside of the tube with electrical tape or whatever.

This is as far as i've gotten so far. I'm still contemplating the wiring. I thought about using the existing wiring, but i'm not sure if there is power to the door when the car is off (as in, windows don't work when the car is off). I want the halos to be on even when the car is off. I just want to make sure the wiring going from the door to the car doesn't look too ghetto and i'll be happy. Don't forget the inline fuse and a switch if you want.

I'll update ASAP, but Mother Nature doesn't seem to like these things too much (Spike, are you Mother Nature?! tongue.gif wink j/k) it's -10 degrees out with wind-chill, and it looks like it's gonna be another blizzard this week... Keep me updated on how it works for you guys. I'm definitely no expert on this stuff, i'm more of a guinnea pig. but i'm always curious on how to improve what i've done. thanks!

Great job mang!

You got 5 stars from me aLONG time ago otherwise you'd have 5 more now.

All we need now is some wiring info, and DEFINATELY a way to hook this up to the AC/Heat controls for dual color.

Phorq, email me, I've got another IDEA/PLACE you may want to try this...
