i said that right above the first pic silly! the colors are yellow, red, and black. in that order. in the middle of those three wires are green tape, holding it together, cuz it was cut off to take the stock shifter off.
You need to look again. Give me the ACTUAL colors. I blatantly see a red wire with a WHITE stripe. that's important. please tell me the colors.
I will help, but I need you to go out to the car and write down if any wires have any stripes or different colors which may have been distorted by the picture.

there is no pink or green wire you speak of. those are probably the 01's wire colors, since both of yours are 01. ... weird

The colors i used are from DTN's color definition, if they aren't as he listed, you can easily just take the wires and connect them while the car is on and see what happens> Use a multimeter to identify the positive, then connect the positive to either of the other two wires until the O/D off indicator comes on, then the other wire is obviously the O/D on indicator.
Colors are irrelevant, multimeter and/or some experimentation and you have your answer as to which is which.
the colors still may not be correct (as my car is not the same to all 2000 wiring diagrams), they are different on almost all the electronics. all i have to say is WTF why put in a shifter with an ashtray looking like sh** making your car look the same! the wires, just run wires from your stereo to it. I'm sure you can figure something out from that. and leave your button under the shifter as ERICY123 said.

^^ WTF? I don't understand what you're saying. You do know the ashtray closes right? The wires don't run to the stereo, that's something else. Also, the wires are color coded for a reason.
Go somewhere else and find something productive to do douchebag.

WTF! sorry i got my words messed up. the ashtray closing only covers whats in the ashtray, not all the ashes still left ALL OVER! and the stereo reference is to run a remote for the light turn on or whatever the shifter wires are for! im pretty sure its not a o/d button, due to i havnt seen any info on this, and almost all switches have 3 wires not 2 even if one wire isnt used. ie. basic 2 way toggle swicth.
my trick to figure out if something would work when hooked up.. use a small light bulb from my old boost gauge. i just hooked it up and if it lit up, then thats how i ran my wires, or checked that the wires were live. fing02.gif
its really SUPER simple since the colors of the wires never mean anything.. i used a wiring diagram to hook up my turbo timer in my tib.. well, instead of keeping the car running for 1 min when i took the keys out, it kept my accessories running for a minute..
now why the hell would someone put such an ugly ass shift knob in a car is my real question.. that thing is the ugliest thing i have ever seen. and what are you going to do about the 2.5" of exposed metal that the putrid knob doesnt cover.

^^ You two are wrong. The colors of the wires mean everything. The green/white wire in your dashboard will illuminate everything when the running lights are turned on. The green/black wire provides a dimming ground when you rotate the dial. The wires are color coded for a reason, but every once in a while schematics are mislabeled by a engineer who had a bad day.
no.. im not wrong... if theres only two wires.. one is a power, one is a ground.. simple as that..
if theres three wires, its hit or miss, since the colors are not always right.. try hooking it up one way, if it doesn't work, its obviously the other way..
black is ALWAYS ground.. unless the engineer really had a bad day.
best bet would be hook it up to the red/white and black wires.. the yellow is probably the dimmer.
