if its al L connector than it doesnt matter because its all one piece.

make sure you have the eq stuff setup right on the deck.

most aftermarket speakers do need an external amp to sound good but if redz doesnt have one I dont see why they would sound any different.

if you can't figure it out and you feel its the speakers just pm me.

^^sounds good...

"Removable Tweeter for Remote Mounting"

thats it. thats why there are two sets of terminals. my guess is that the woofer and tweeter are each 8 ohms, making a combined load of 4 ohms. the tweeter probably has some kind of basic high pass filter to block the lows, and vice vers for the woofer. make sure the + from the headunit is going to the + of the speaker, like redz said. connect the speaker wire to both terminals. no crap-ass connecting either. use GOOD crimps or solder.

Well that's all fine and dandy (I understand what you are sayin' and it sounds about right) but I made sure the bold part is true...

Both tabs are hooked up to the CORRECT corresponding (+) and (-) CAR speaker wires...
(But later on someone, tibbytib, said I should ONLY hook up one SET of the tabs not BOTH (+)'s and (-)'s tabs...

I dunno, I'm goin out there today to hook up the stock speakers and narrow down the problem, I'm pretty sure Chris, you are right. It's gotta be something with the "removable tweeters in every speaker". I don't see how they are "removable" because there (+) and (-) wiring are built IN to the speaker (and in turn the L tabs)....

But if I go through the papers I got again, maybe it will come clear.

Then I would imagine he has a blown speaker or possibly a wire needs to be re-soddered somewhere inside the speaker. Also, there is that slight possiblity that your amp in your HU went out at exactly the same time you installed the speakers. Reconnect the stockers just to make sure this is not the case

^^you may be right but probably a blown SET os speakers

What's the power rating of your HU?

Could be way to weak also.

Yes, the Tweeters come off and you can mount them elsewhere, I took mine off and put them back on.

no, the coil would just be energized in the opposite way, and the magent would pull instead of push.

^^ Could be the problem if they sound good from close up, but not far away. if one speaker is pushing and one is pulling, then you have a problem with being out of phase. all speakers must be in phase or you cancel the sound out, like a bose active noise canceling headphone. Instead of vibrating outwards, as one pushes the other pulls and air is naturally compensated for.

Phase would explain the problems you are having with lower pitch sounds. High frequency naturally carries more power behind it as it can cut through air with little resistance. Low frequency has to look for the path of least resistance because it takes alot of energy to move air instead of just vibrate it.

Change the phase of your speakers. If you see the bass cone portion moving and there's not alot of sound comming out of them from further away, i'll gaurantee you're out of phase. If you do not see/feel the woofer cone moving, then you have an open wire somewhere.

it's possible the wires could have been switched for the woofer cone if there was a repair or disconnected wire in the past. If the tweeter is removable, then the tweeter could be hooked up backwards.

it MUST be a backwards connection on the pass side rear speaker then...

today I'lll switch the wires on the speaker...

I remember when I took off the wires from the stock rear speaker, the BLACK wire from the car was connected to the pos terminal of the speacker (stock), but I was like... no way they could f*** that up?

So I connected the black wire to the neg. terminal t the Audiobahn speaker. I'll swap it and see what happens.

Thank you so much.

You were right. I guess Hyundai decided to make the black wire negative for the rear left speaker but make the black wire positive for the rear left speaker...

whatever, I swapped em and it works GREAT. I love the sound. Gotta try without the tweeters now...

thanks again.

could be the previous owner cut and spliced the wires wrong as well. you should double check because it may be that the front are out of phase with the rear now.
