Out of curiosity what does a new piston from Hyundai cost? I think if you are going performane woudn't it be better to go with something from CP or wiseco. if mahle carries them I would go with them. I am just thinking it would only be another couple hundred or less then oem new pistons

It's also cast, and a higher compression part. It's good for what it is.

Kspec is $169 for the set their site says that 11:1 could be reached with the 1.8 pistons 2.0 rods and an xd head gasket

True but Wiseco (At least use to) were able to make the pistons meet your specific demands for not too much more then the listed prices. So they could accomodate NA or turbo builds based on your demands.

Searching for more aftermarket goodies to put on my list found this site and they are promising these pistons will push the compression ratio 12.5 or 13 to 1 but the price tag is pretty steep.

Sorry if the site is not approved but figured it is relevant in this discussion since teh op is trying to bump up the compression ratio.

Tempting to go this route and build a decent NA machine. I can probably get by in a lower class in autocross with these then if I stuck a turbo in the tib.... very tempting....
