just looked at my spare block again, its a 2.0 from an F2 Evo, cost me approx $50 as I needed it to replace my gearbox, helped myself to the Evo cams whilst I was at it though. Anyways the pistons in that are domed, but not as high as the ones in those pictures.
And the 1.8 I looked at was definately a 1.8, its a friends project and he's also robbing cams from a 1.8 lantra (Uks 4 door Tiburon), so we're comparing pistons.
whats the stock compression on your 1.8s and 2.0s/ Ours is 10.0 for 1.8, and 10.3 for 2.0, is that the same as yours?

theres clearly a huge difference there, but theres not in the 1.8 engine I looked at, both have the one on the right. And ask Hyundai over here for 1.8 pistons and they supply the same ones as a 2.0.

It is not unheard-of for dealership computers to have the wrong part numbers in their drill-down part lookup software. Come at them with the proper part number and they'll be able to order it, even if they don't know what it is.
Juanra thanks a bunch. That's what your 2mm raised dome looks like eggcatcher.

I know Hyundai likely to have wrong part number, often wrong when supplying, but it don't explain the 1.8 block with 2.0 pistons in it. Unless it was something else they changed for European spec, I know exhausts are different, can't see why they'd change the pistons though.
