Rough Or No Starting: Trying To Diagnose
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (RED ZMAN @ Dec 22 2008, 03:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>you do have it narrowed down, it's either spark, compression, or fuel.
How does the fuel pump "seem fine"? Did you test it using my DIY or not?
Pull your fuel rail real quick and check the injectors. There's a ton you can do, in an hour or 2.</div>
LOL.
It's not getting spark, and when I brought the diagnostic scanner, it failed to turn on and was not able to take any readings; I checked the scanner in another vehicle and it worked fine.
So I am beginning to think the ECU is dead and needs replacement...which I really hope is not the case, because so far, they seem expensive.

You have to have the car in the ON position, or started, to get a reading. You won't get one otherwise.
You still didn't tell me if you tested your fuel pump or not.
Good luck fixing it man, I'm done here.

Ah good ol' Redz...some things never change. lmao.gif
I told you, the fuel pump was fine - didn't need your DIY.
The car also does not need to start for the diagnostic to work - it simply needs to be turned to the on position.
But alas, it is starting like a champ.
Wasn't the fuel pump. Nor the plugs. Nor the cranshaft pos. sensor.
It was an $8 fuse.
Thanks to all who helped and added suggestions. A new crankshaft position sensor never hurts cool.gif

And you knew it was fine how?
Telekenesis?
Mind telling everyone what fuse it was in case someone wants to look at this same problem later? No offense man, but if it was a fuse, you should have checked those before even posting here, that's common sense to be the first things you look at. We were doing the usual of having you check the items that need to function in order for your car to start. If you have fuel, spark, and it's turning, it WILL start. Since you didn't check those items, and replaced a fuse, the fuse had to be controlling one of them.

Indeed it was telekinesis. Seeing how your DIY must be the only way to check a fuel pump, what other non-paranormal option did I have?
Sorry Redz - no offense, but in your own words, I'm done here.

No one said it was the only way, but you didn't say you checked it, just that it was good. I'm not playing your raindeer games, and you for sure weren't missed around here. Feel free to have another few years before you post again.
