<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (RED ZMAN @ Dec 18 2008, 02:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Did you check your fuel pump? I've got a DIY up on how to do the test. If your fuel pump is fine, then the CKP of course. if they are both fine, check your injectors to make sure they are spraying.

This is all assuming that your wires/plugs are good and don't have any buildup.</div>
Not yet. It just recently got to the point where it was no longer a fluke, and something needed fixed, so I haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

But it's going to be towed home and once there, I will check all of the parts suggested (finding your DIY as we speak).

Thanks to all for the help. It was too easy to forget just how helpful you guys and this site are!

BTW REDZMAN - how have you been? It's good to see some familiar names, and the site still going strong. That's so awesome!

It could well be the CKP, that's one of the usual suspects, and checking it for tightness takes about 3 seconds, just gotta find it. Been a common issue lately, so they do go bad.

Doing well my man, you shouldn't be such a stranger.

Glad to hear it!

Once my work blocked the site, it was tough to visit (internet is almost useless at home).

But strangely, it seems ot be unblocked, which is pretty sweet.

My car on the other hand...no so much. In the past month, it has:
1)...hit a deer
2)...got rear ended
3)...got backed into by a snow plow
4)...the problem in the thread

I've heard about black cats, but never knew black cars were bad luck!

LOL. I would definitely check that crank sensor. Weve been seeing that a lot lately.

Yesterday I replaced the CKP...

No dice. Still won't start 02.gif

Tonight I'm bringing home the diagnostic tool for the CEL, and hopefully that will give me a clue so I don't spend another $80 to no avail.

I'll let you guys know how that goes sad.gif

Throwing parts at it won't fix it man. Did you do the fuel pump test I told you to do? Did you check your injectors?

The fuel pump seemed fine. I didn't check the injectors, but I'll definitely add that to the (ever-growing) list of things to check.

After being told about the CKP not being in top shape by the dealer, and then reading about others trouble shooting, I thought for sure I had the problem narrowed down. mad.gif

you do have it narrowed down, it's either spark, compression, or fuel.

How does the fuel pump "seem fine"? Did you test it using my DIY or not?

Pull your fuel rail real quick and check the injectors. There's a ton you can do, in an hour or 2.
