Remap Ecu And Raise Rev Limiter!
Hi, my name is Arnold and I'm new to the forum. I posted a new topic for those that are interested in getting there ECU Remapped and your rev limiter raised for a low cost.
I was surfing the internet oneday looking to get my ECU Remapped and Rev limiter raised. I came across a website with stating that they can Remap an Ecu and Raise Rev limiter if possible. So I called the guy asking for information about this.
Come to find out this guy and his brothers campaigned an RX-7 from 1997 to 2000 until that particular car fell outside the rules of the GT3 class. These guys seem to live and breath Mazda and particularly rotary performance. According to Keith, they haven't been back to Daytona because Mazda hasn't had a car that was legal for Rolex GT competition since the demise of the RX-7 in 2000, but there back in competition with the RX-8. (Company Name:GoldinBrosRacing)
What I'm trying to say is these guy's are legit.
The person that I talked to was Keith Goldin. He asked if I would send my ECU to him so that he can check it out because it was going to be his 1st. hyundai ECU that he has ever worked on. Which he stated their might be trial and error but he will figure it out one way or another. It took keith 3 weeks to figure it out with me and him sending the ECU back and forth to get it right. When I looked at all the circuits in the ECU there was no piggy back circuits wired up to it so he actually programmed it with some a computer software.
Ever since I had my ECU Remapped and Rev limiter Raised I noticed a big difference. The big difference is Throttle response, More aggressive exhaust tone that sounds smooth and deep, Shifting is much smoother, and from 6500 rpm to 7500rpm it really pulls nice. No Check Engine Light, Plus my AFR was just right not too rich or too lean. If you have a Safc and a FPR it's a plus to have.
Now since I have an automatic(this will only apply to those that are Automatic) if you leave the car in driver you can't drive past 6500rpm, but if you shift manually through 1st, 2nd, and drive (D) with O/D Off you can rev up to 8400rpm in each gear which I don't because I have my MSD set at 7500rpm to be safe that I don't over rev. If you try to rev past 7700rpm you with notice a big drop in power which is not good.
What I notice in my automatic is:
1st gear revs nice to 3200rpm and pulls you to 7500rpm with a push.
2nd gear you don't have to wait for the power to kick in because when you shift into 2nd gear you're already higher in your rpms which would be our power band. Because before I did anything to the ECU I would have to wait another 1000rpms before the power kicked in and now I don't.
3rd gear, let me tell you it keeps going meaning before I did anything to the ECU I would be at 110mph in third gear but know 130mph easily. But I don't advise to do so.
4th gear I just don't need to explain because I didn't even try it.
Now please understand I know that people are going to talk shit but I don't care. The bottom line is I found a person who took the time to work with me and see if he could reprogram our ECUs to be Remapped and to Raise our Rev limiter and the outcome was, YES!
Since my ECU is for a 1st. Generation Tiburon Automatic. I'm positive he can do the same for all 1st and 2nd generation tiburons that are Manual or Automatics.
P.S. I haven't had this Dyno'd yet!

seems great and all but i've heard this song and dance before. i would like to see dynos and see a few happy customers before i pay him to mes with my ecu
i really hope this guy is legit and can get some dyno numbers. why dont you have him get on the site and explain some more about his ecu upgrade.
also can you post videos of your car doing all those thing you stated it can do now.

I'm sort of skeptical, we've had about 3 or 4 different companies fail at tuning our ECUs in the past..
How did he give you a good tune without dynoing the car first (I see you have cams)?
If you have had your ECU remapped, why the SAFC?
And why in the world would he raise the redline to 8400? Even 7500 is too high, our cars stop making power at like 7000 (but i suppose with different cams and a good tune you could go to 7500 though)..hmm, 8500 is still WAY too high for our cars though (on stock internals)
The ECU for automatics/manuals is the same, the difference is in the TCU.

Hello everyone,
I called and talked to Keith today, and will be shipping out my spare 1.8L ecu.
He said all they do is increase the rev-limiter, NOTHING ELSE. There is no re-map of timing or fuel so you need an SAFC or wideband to be safe. He mentioned that the stock fuel curve is unlimited and it makes sense that the computer would just interpret the values of tps, engine speed etc and plug them into a formula to determine the amount of duty cycle for the injectors.
I am sending my ecu today and will hopefully have it next week.
I mentioned that 8500 is MUCH too high and said I would want mine to go no higher than 7500.
Price is $110 to compensate for shipping back.

Let us know how it goes bro, lord knows your one of the few N/A tibs that is ready for a higher rev.
Get that sucker on the rollers when you get it back

LOL,
Yeah alex I know I know... I've been looking for a way to do this for a LONG time now (without going standalone of course).
I called him again and he seems very cool, no problems talking to him, real easy going and seems knowledgeable.
I told him to make mine at about 8000 rpm, just in case I get the ferrea dual valve springs and lighten up the bottom end in the future.

Ehh, he's wrong, you can change the fuel ratios and stuff too, just haven't gotten anyone here to do it yet.
But it's coming.
Heheheh, $100 to get your rev limiter raised? No thanks.
I'd rather pay 2 to 300 to be able to reprogram my ECU whenever I want, on my own.
It IS coming...
Thanks for the thread though OP.

Well redz, I think everyone would rather have the ability to tune their own car and adjust everything for their particular modifications, but like you said it IS coming, meaning that ability is not here yet. And there is not ETA as to when it WILL be here.
So I just said what the heck you know? It's only 100 bucks, I figured I should try it out considering my car would benefit from a higher redline, even if I can only take it 300 rpm higher than I can go now (safely that is).
I'll be the first to admit this method sure as hell is ghetto, but as of right now, it is the only cheap option and it was worth a try for me.
We'll see how it goes eh?
Keep us updated on that option though bro. smile.gif
