alright, after much difficulty, I finally have the new tranny bolted up to the motor.

EVERYBODY TOLD ME YOU ONLY NEED TO REPLACE THE TOP TRANNY MOUNT!!! So, that's all I got from the junkyard. At 10pm tonight we figured out you need all 3!! Junkyard isn't open til Monday, so I'm stuck now.

FYI : Put the Throw Out Bearing on the fork, NOT THE CLUTCH (mistake #82)
FYI : Grab all tranny mounts!! (mistake #31)
FYI : Gotta push clutch in to release TOB (something like that) and clutch pedal was already taken off of junker... became a real PITA. (Thanks REDZ and Socks for the help!). (mistake #63)
FYI : If grabbing parts off a wrecked Tib, make sure it isn't too damaged to get to most of the parts you need. (mistake #13)

argh... still gotta redrill holes for the front bolts of the manual shifter and rewire the ECU.... once we get the tranny mounts in, I'll be on the road!!!

majik, seems i have less luck than you. my car won't be ready until sometime next month...

why do you have to rewire? can't you just get a 5-speed ECU and leave the Auto pins out? I'm not doing it myself though, so call me a tool i might be wrong.

/\ No such thing as a tib stick/auto ECU, just the different transaxles have different wiring to the ECU

We only replaced the tranny mount on selinas car. What year did you grab the mount/tranny from? i know the mounts arent compatible between beta II trannys and beta I mounts. i grabbed a tranny from a late 90's elantra along with the mount.

Bryan did the same thing with his swap

And you shoulda known 82, lmao

you dont need to push the clutch in to release the TOB, you just unhook the bolt on top of the fork lever, and the fork will let go of the TOB when you drop the tranny.

because the stock auto TCM sends signals to the ECU and without the proper signals to the ECU the computer will throw a CEL...

And majik if you still have your PP and TOB attached i can get it off for you, or walk you through it.

thanks Alex.... we took it back to AutoZone and they did a Damage swap on it. We worked on it for about 40 minutes, the AutoZone guys worked on it for about 15, then swapped it out at another store closeby.

The tranny is bolted onto the motor.

- Still have to rewire ECU
- Still have to drill front holes for shifter base
- Still have to get front and rear bottom tranny mounts (then we can put axles back in and wheels on).

Other than that, we're done. Hard stuff is over with. Socks was a huge help.

Now that I think about it... I got the transmission from MaierApril. All other parts I ripped off the Tib myself. He must have received a different tranny than an 00-01 mad.gif that must be the problem with the mounts

-------------------
IF the tranny came from an 03-04 Tib... what are my options? Can I just get 03-04 tranny mounts? The mounts I have won't work because the holes are about 1/2" wider apart than on the tranny than on the mounts. Think it'll still bolt up to the body?

Never taken off the tranny or have much familiar with the trannies between the years, so I'm probably not much help.

Pics might help us a bit though.
